perfectly competent. don't play it unless you have a particular hankering for this exact kind of thing. it's maybe one of the least surprising games i've ever played?

a lot of its systems are sort of busted as fuck and a lot of areas of the game lose any kind of interest once you've explored them for the first time. it recycles a shocking amount of content from itself, and ideas from the series that it pretends it's not a part of.

this game feels bigger and more intimidating with every flavor of mystery it introduces. i'm a little embarrassed by the sheer catharsis i got from solving The Big Puzzle. it's a darn good time
