Obviously fantastic, yet I'm not digging the more linear approach. Why does Sonic have a useless af roll attack, and a bounce attack. It get's even worse when you realise that both of those require you to press the same button as the spin dash, which, because of that, takes much longer to do. The Tails and Dr. Robotnik stages are a slog to get through but thankfully I do enjoy the Knuckles and Rouge stages quite a bit.

A step down from the Adventure games for sure, but still a bunch of fun. I was never a fan of Sonic's boost move in this game, it just felt awkward to do. I also don't like the kind of beat em' up approach. When I say that, I mean how you have to defeat all the enemies in an area to progress. I don't get the hate for this game. It's fun

The absolute slog this game is to get through. I loathe this game with a passion. Once Green Hill Zone ends, you might as well tie the noose around your neck while you still can. I mean, Star Light Zone is better... I guess, but it's not good. The special stages are also fucking abysmal. If I could describe this game in one word, it's tedious.

I'm not going to pretend that this game is a 10/10 or a masterpiece, but I am going to tell you why this game is amazing to me. The controls are the best out of any Sonic game to me. The levels are open and fun to play. The cutscenes, while fucking awful, are weirdly charming to me. The music is... need I say more? This game is so, SO flawed but that's definitely a big part of why, after playing it many times, I can call it one of my favourite games ever.
