And that's finally a wrap on Midnight Suns. Hard to believe I've actually finished this game after playing it on and off for half a year, but it's done. The amount of time it took me to finish has little to do with the quality of the game - if anything, it's to its credit that I came back after several extended breaks. I may have taken breaks to play other things, but ultimately I knew I was going to come back to the Abbey and my buds eventually.

Truly a superb game, and a great surprise - the social stuff, the deck building stuff, and the tactical gameplay come together to form something that's more than the sum of its parts, but perhaps the biggest surprise is that the Marvel of it all is actually a boon, and not a burden. The writing leverages these characters, their relationships, and their history to build a compelling little universe of its own. I would die for most of these characters.

Glad I finally went back and revisited this. I really shouldn't like this game on the surface - I generally don't like platforming, and I like first-person platforming even less, but Neon White just feels incredible to play - especially when I switched to keyboard and mouse about 2/3rds of the way through.

I understand why people hate the writing, but it never bothered me. I actually enjoyed the main cast, even if the story isn't anything special.

For me, it was the perfect weed/podcast game - I got into a flow that reminded me a lot of Doom 2016, of all things.

Holy shit what an incredible experience. I can't believe it's over. I also can't believe I have to wait another five years for the next one. Time to Process My Feelings and Dig Into the Discourse
