I dont even know what to say about Dragon Quest games anymore, every time I finish a new one I start thinking if its my new favourite. I loved absolutely everything about this one. The intro chapters, the story in general was extremely rewarding and captivating, every town is interesting, all the dungeons feel real and never overstay their welcome. This might be the best game of the mainline of all the ones ive played. Half a point (a bit unfairly) deducted because Im not a personal fan of the party AI (big fan of the party members using thwack on the last boss fight)
absolutely amazing. I admit, the movement didnt click for me the first time I tried it but I decided to give it another go and this game surpassed all my expectations. the exploration is fun and rewarding, the collecting is addictive and the boss fights are simple but very creative. the game is bright and colorful and welcoming. any slimes out there must play this

man what can I say about this game. the first time I played it I didnt get past Port Haven, the story wasnt gripping me and I got a bit confused on where to progress and stopped. now on this second attempt I got drawn into the mystery of the two worlds and the truth behind them a lot more. all the reveals were interesting and well-developed. every little quest required for progression was cute and the contrast of going to the same city in the dream world and then the real world was always fascinating. as a huge DQM fan I was also a big fan of playing with Milly and Terry. I was also pleasantly surprised that we got to explore the world underwater, I was fully expecting to just get the inevitable flying method to get to places we otherwise hadnt been able to reach yet. overall, I absolutely loved this game, I cant recommend it enough.
one word of warning for any fools like me out there, after you beat Murdaw in the real world, go talk to Madame Luca who will teach you a spell to go between worlds, I spent the entire game going to whatever well was nearby thinking "man i wish there was an easier way to do this" please dont be like me

very happy to have finally played the SFC versions of these games. most DQ games Ive played were their SFC counterparts so I always felt like I had to experience this one eventually. both games are amazing, I love the simplicity of DQ1, makes for a very comforting game to beat in a day. DQ2 has an amazing world that I never get tired of exploring, despite the difficulty spike at the end. I felt a newfound appreciation for these game again. will certainly try out the GBC versions some day
