I think I'm done with this. Its a solid "okay". But I didn't expect much from a Mario Kart mobile game so I'm not that disappointed. Just dont like being bombarded every time I open the app with "daily challanges" and "special offers". I swear every time I opened it, I had to click out of 10 things that just kept popping up one after another. The 2 stars are for character variants and character special skills

I gave this game a second chance a while ago. The game's gonna stop receiving updates so I think now's a good time to get my thoughts out. It's not as bad as I remember it being but it's still not good. The gameplay is still dull and grindy, with the same old pay to win slop they encourage you to get if you want to actually stand a chance at winning races, whether they be singleplayer or multiplayer. Maybe the only good things that came out of this game were the new characters (Pauline, Peachette, and Kamek are my favorites), the cute costumes everyone gets dressed in (especially Daisy, God bless her soul), and it is the reason why Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still kicking, with new characters and the shitty— I mean, city tracks you could tell were designed with a mobile game in mind. Some of you may see the last reason as a bad thing, but I digress. MKT's still bad and because nearly everything I wanted out of this game is in MK8D, I'm not going to miss this game.

They removed this game from 99% of devices and it still baffles me

More like Mario Kart Snore zzzzzzzzz

It's Mario Kart for those who do not have a Nintendo console for Mario Kart. In terms of mobile games, it's pretty fun and has a good cast of returning characters and newcomers. Personally, I hope they add E.Gadd and bring back R.O.B. However, the game was pretty greedy with its gatcha mechanics. With the gatcha largely removed, I would recommend starting the game if you haven't already. For those who do not want to spend any money on this game, I strongly suggest saving rubies only for characters, Mii costumes, or/and vehicles/vehicle parts that you want.

well at least our lord and saviour funky kong is back that saves this from a half star.

Fun game if you at least get gold pass which I feel is worth it, although I lost steam with it a looong time ago. With how it is now you aren't missing much aside from the tracks that will probably never be brought back.

I miss Ninja Hideaway every day

Assim... até que faz sentido, mas assim... pq????

I knew a guy who spent 50$ to get kimono peach other then that the game basically plays itself so you can pay for pngs of Mario characters.

played this out of sheer boredom and curiosity and man oh man this isn't even near as bad as I thought it would be. of course being a mobile game there are some extreme liberties and mechanical gameplay cuts that had to be made. of course it doesn't play like a traditional Mario Kart game, but the sort of auto-drive thing the game has going on gives it its own unique quirks that I liked more than I thought it would.

i for one am really taken aback by the amount of content in this game - it is daunting. the miniature 3-or-so-week long rotating battle pass system gives you plenty of room and time to complete everything they present you. not to mention you are CONSTANTLY unlocking things. unfortunately yes, there is a gacha, and yet it's probably the most lightweight gacha I've ever dealt with. it's not immune to having absurd 0.0001% drop rates like your usual fare but Tour gives you a plethora of ways to unlock things. you have the traditional battle pass, the green coin shop and the regular coin shop, and of course the premium currency gacha, and you generate quite the sizeable income of all these currencies as you play, and at a shockingly faster rate than what I've seen from mobile games of this caliber. even if you don't like gacha like me, the sheer amount of things you unlock within a period of time makes the gacha seem incredibly insignificant.

while the gameplay is in a sense just Mario Kart on autopilot, the points and items system grant it a bit of levity and prevents this from being a truly shallow experience. not just the ability to hold 3 items and even being granted a "frenzy" if you manage to hold 3 of the same (like getting a 777 in a slot machine), but some of the new items are interesting and I hope to see them in future titles, particularly the Warp Rings from SMG. when looking at gameplay i kinda just assumed the point system was a bit arbitrary and pointless but it really becomes this interesting skill check that ticks rapidly and incentivizes you to play a bit more skillfully, as larger point sums grant you battle pass unlocks even faster.

Mario Kart Tour is definitely odd, there's no denying that. it's a weird, slippery controlling Mario Kart that runs on autopilot that somehow grants you a bit more control than you (or at least I) would initially assume at first glance. it presents its own gimmicks as a way of giving it a real identity as a true mobile game, for better or worse. as far as Mario Kart goes, there's no denying it's a weird outlier and you either hate it or think "yeah this is alright." as far as mobile games go, it manages to stand above the huge pile of content-less, gameplay-less, money-leeching schlock you're more prone to seeing.

UPDATE 9/2/2022 : the gacha is being removed next month. the average rating for this better rise

Mario Kart but with EA mechanics

The only Mario Kart game where you barely get to play the game

it's ok to pirate nintendo games

Fuck this gacha game in particular for being the only Mario Kart game with Dixie Kong and Hammer Bro. They should be in a real Mario Kart.

also i only ever played the closed beta (saw the warning signs it would suck just from that alone) and did you know the original premium currency was emeralds, but then in the final they made them rubies? is that weird or what?

Like was this just a focus testing thing? They sent a survey for feedback at the end of the beta period, so was there enough of a public outcry that the world wanted to spend real money on fictional red gems instead of green ones? Since they're red, are they more fitting for a Mario game than green gems? The world may never know, unlike how the world knows this game is bad as one of the scant few objective truths on this great big globe.

1/10 (Awful)

Mario Kart if you hate everything good about Mario Kart.

Plays perfectly fine in the most boring way imaginable. Gacha mechanics are scummy. Booooo.

Genuinely shocking to see micro-transactions this predatory in a game with "Mario" in the title. Truly insane pricing. On top of that, the actual tracks themselves are universally pretty bad and playing this game on a vertical screen is a weird experience. Literally the only redeeming quality of this entire game is the character costumes and cart variety is really fun and something I hope we see in future, proper Mario Kart titles.

Technically qualifies as a video game. Irredeemable gacha garbage that contorts some of the all-time greatest racing levels of any franchise into a barrage of stomach-churning "Baby's First Pay-to-Win Scam"-looking junk. Even if you removed yourself from the idea that this is the epitome of Nintendo's insultingly greedy bullshit, the vehicles would still control like a dump truck with duct-taped windows in reverse. Plus, I mean... it still looks like this. Too watered-down to even fully hate.

this is so insulting to the mario kart series

Don't really understand all the hate this game gets. I guess people tend to compare this to actual Nintendo games rather than phone games.

What I see in this game is a free and ad-free game with some of the some of the most valueless and pointless micro-transactions. It doesn't really feel like your missing out because you don't decide to spend money on it. The tracks and cups get constantly updated and I think this brings a freshness MK8D can sometimes be missing. This game also has an online mode with seemingly more reliable servers than the actual Nintendo Switch ones.

Obviously this game isn't perfect considering phones aren't fitted for racing games, but for what it is I think it is a perfectly enjoyable game.

As is with almost every mobile game, its ruined with a lootbox system. This game was a bit of a fad for a few months then disappeared. Cool to see some tracks in the new DLC

The only thing this game has going for it are the changes it made to the Mario Kart formula or returning features. I enjoyed the fact that special items made their return, the reverse tracks are fun, and the trick variants are kinda useless but not unappreciated.
Because the game is so bland and lifeless, those things don't go unappreciated.
But the track selection is beyond poor, the main gameplay of "Tours" is abysmal, and the very idea of a Mario Kart mobile game is unbelievably awful from a controls standpoint alone.

I hate this game with a fiery passion. Nintendo's latest cash grab is not even trying to hide it, but everyone I talked to was super addicted to this game for some reason. As someone who is well known for my Mario Kart affinity, they were surprised to learn how much I loathed Tour.

This game has no soul, it has no fun. I hope a further continuation of the Mario Kart series sticks with the ideas that originated here. They should have been in 8 Deluxe, but it's better late than never. Just hopefully in a real game next time.

Kind of underrated tbh. I started playing in like February of 2022 so I'm assuming the game was a lot better than how it was at launch, but I enjoyed playing this game every day for like 8-9 months. They introduced a new track practically every two weeks and even had some original tracks to the series. The core gameplay with combos and multipliers was extremely addictive and the experience as a free-to-play player was generally pretty good. I didn't feel like I needed to pay money to get some of the things I really wanted. Overall one of the better mobile games I've ever played.
