haters will try and tell you different but real toreeheads know...real toreeheads know...

Loved the first one for its gameplay essentialism and was pleasantly surprised to find that instead of adding more stuff for the sequel, Toree 2 actually takes out some of the stuff that dragged its predecessor down and streamlines itself into a cute little running and jumping game that would no doubt make Sonic the Hedgehog envious.

Some dodgy controls (pls listen to Kaizen Game Works re: jump buttons), but I'm gonna go Death of the Developer on this one and say it was an intentional design choice to amp up the teeny tiny tension.

Would be an absolute five-bagger if it wasn't for the crummy boss battle that simply doesn't belong in the game. Game developers, remember to normalise the signal level on your audio files if you respect ears...

wtf im a toree fan now

Better in every aspect to the first game.

Improved on the level design by focusing on speed and removing all the objects that had you stopping for seconds in its prequel such as fans, elevators, the need to wait for some platforms to get closer and the list goes on...

The music is also better in here, Sparkle Park was a banger.

At the end of the game they added a Klonoa-esque boss battle which I thought was great for a change.

Like its prequel, this game can be completed in less than an hour and it's $1.

Toree 2 is the follow up to Toree 3D, a 3D platformer with only a handful of stages that had a strong emphasis on speedrunning stages. Toree 2 feels like an expansion on the first game, offering even more stages to explore and speed through, as well as secrets to find and hidden surprises.

I played this on PC via itch.io, which did not like the idea of me using a controller for some reason. No matter how I tried to configure it, it just wouldn't work. I wound up settling for using keyboard and mouse controls. While they weren't ideal for this kind of game, they got the job done and I still had a fun time regardless.

Toree 2 feels good to control, and while you can beat it in under an hour, you'll definitely want to go back to improve your times and find secrets to unlock other characters. Plus, this game is super cheap. It's 1 dollar on itch.io and Steam and is honestly worth more than that.

If you're looking for a short inexpensive platformer that plays great and gives you plenty of goals to achieve, look no further than Toree 2!

Ele é melhor que o anterior, traz umas melhorias simples mas que aumentam muito o nível. Mas o que eu quero saber mesmo é a lore dessa porra, como que esse pintinho se mete nessas coisas bicho

heres yet more toree

this one is actually still pretty close to the predecessor in basically every way apart from the fact that theres some more focus on the speed aspect and its a damn good new addition giving toree some more dynamism

this time the levels are completely new in the same 4 + 4 + 1 formula of the first and you got a fire palace ! aka bowsers castle in super mario 64 then an oasis ! a something futuristic place and star wars so theres a lot of stuff to unpack here

the final level and the final boss was something i was not expecting compared to the last level in the first game and a damn good addition likeeeeee i dig it im sorry yall

AND THE OST UGHHHHHHHH DID YOU LISTEN TO I WANNA LOVE YOU thats my tune yall I fucking love it jesus fucking lord

ok so anyway thats it its just more toree what did you expect ? less horrorish stuff but whatever

Vale a pena jogar! É super baratinho!

basically just the first game but with twice as much content, new characters, a boss battle, and better music. very solid and very fun for the price. i'd pick it up and give it like 2 hours of your time to 100%. i enjoyed this!

You get the birdy's ice cream back again!!

The first one is better because I'm a bat and can jump anywhere, and like you have infinite jumps so you can just like jump off into the void and beat levels. Toree 2 is... not as good as the first game.

...did I rate the first game?

This one feels like it didn't learn anything new between the earlier game and this one, every problem is still there but this one has more content, though I'd say the levels are slightly worse, at it's price I'd say it's worth picking up because it is decent quality

Irons out almost all of the flaws of the first game and creates a bite-sized high-adrenaline experience. I'm still a bit eye-rolly about the horror elements, but they're nowhere near as obnoxious as in the first game, so whatever.

Ok, I now really love this chicken.

When I started Toree 2, I expected it to be just... more Toree, as it apparently was very similar in structure and length and saying that this game is more of the last one is both an accurate description and a disservice.

Mechanically speaking and how the levels are structured nothing changed, Toree and the unlockable characters control the same way, and the levels are still focused on speed and being bite-sized, like the game as a whole. At its core, everything was kept intact, and yet, it has a lot of upgrades and minor tweaks that make this one a far greater experience.

Levels are much more focused and more unique, when a level in Toree 2 is not introducing something new, is expanding something that was already established, and the levels themselves have a clearer identity and are more memorable. While there are only 8 levels and each 2 tackle one particular zone or theme, they still feel fairly unique in both how are they presented, the music they have and the design itself; for example, the first space themed level is you travelling surrounding a space station, while the second one happens while a space battle is taking place. These things just add much more personality and lead to far, FAR more memorable levels that the ones the original Toree 3D had. It also helps that the final level in this one is actually amazing, visually unique and this time around it has a proper conclusion, the original game just kinda... ended, while this time around there's actually a final boss and pretty cute conclusion. Also, Toree wears a costume for some of the levels, which is both a really cool addition and extremely cute. My bird had nice glasses and now a cool hat? 10 out of 10 character design.

The music also has a major upgrade, the OST in the original was already good, but it suffered from having very small and poor done loops (the final level specially was HORRIBLE and I don't want to hear that song ever again, like, holy shit dude at least don't have a clear fade out and fade in); they clearly paid attention to that in this one, as not only music is only way better, but the loops are done masterfully, to the point that even the song with lyrics never gets tiring (tho the small duration of the levels also helps).

Presentation wise still retains that classical PS1 look that Slactro is very good at conveying, only that this time the creepy visuals present in the original are much less prominent here, and that makes it when you encounter a particularly creepy thing, it's much more impactful that it could have been if the game was full of them.

Sooooooo, yeah, I'm actually incredibly surprised, the team knew to recognize what worked and what didn't, and the result was a really fun platformer that is a joy to speedrun. I honestly kinda wish it was longer, 'cus that way they could have introduced more thing and make this something far greater, but as it is, it's an amazing little sequel and a that is just a dollar worth, and I recommend it regardless if you already played the original or you simply like 3D platformers.

I just really like being positively surprised, and I'm glad that I can say that a Toree game is pretty amazing.

A game that is emblematic of the fact that I just find the idea of running around brightly coloured, low-poly worlds to be an inherently joyful experience. There's just this certain comfort felt in racing around such pretty environments that basically makes it impossible for me to go through this without smiling, and I feel like Toree 2 manages to capture the fun of it in an even more potent way than its first entry did. The levels themselves feel a tad more unique and engaging with the varying types of environments thrown your way that offer up a range of different platforming challenges without ever quite getting as frustrating to handle as that one level with the trucks from Toree 1. With that said, I definitely think that the biggest and best change made to this game was simply the fact that there were more ways to pick up speed throughout, which helped add a bit more depth to the otherwise very barebones movement and made striving to get the S ranks on the time attacks that much more engaging. Hopefully the next game in the series can help alleviate the issues with the very much "default Unity" camera system, because that's the main thing I think this needs to take it that tiny bit further in terms of game feel, but other than that, no major complaints here. So many cool and charming stylistic touches all over the place, particularly the mildly spooky/surreal elements that are thrown in purely for fun just add so much to this to the point where I wish this had another 50 levels, though with that said, the 9 here are all exceptionally good anyway and make it something easy to throw at people and have them play.

idk what I would have thought I'd have wanted from a Toree sequel when the first game felt like a perfect get-in-and-get-out experience that put all its ideas on the table, and I'm pleasantly surprised to see that rather than try to further push out, Toree 2 really just tightens everything up. This is a streamlined experience that places more emphasis on the speedgame side of the original to its benefit, with a lot more moments of twitch motion and small routing decisions that can make or break your grade. Levels feel punchier and grading is accordingly stricter. It just works!

They took my mans ice cream again

An enjoyable 3D platformer that's worth more than the single dollar I bought it for!

Overall, it's better than the original game. Also the Pyro Palace theme is a BOP!

It's more of the same speed focused 3D platforming from the first game (which is still very good, btw), but comes with a couple of more open ended bonus levels that wind up being a ton of fun in their own right. It's really fun seeing that (usually tedious) collect-a-thon style of play boiled down and trimmed to its barest essentials, with objectives taking no more than 30 seconds to clear and stages small enough to explore with little fuss! I might prefer it over the more linear approach of the main campaign, even if the checkpoint system isn't quite built for it... Maybe something to fix in a future endeavour?

Improves upon everything in the original, great little game. Sparkle Park's song is legit really good wtf also there were sonic rush samples

Short and concise, satisfying platforming

Doesn't expand too much on the first game but for a cheap platformer it's pretty decent for what it is.

Great feeling game and great levels. Really looking forward to playing the dev's other stuff.

An abridged story of my life, poetry of grief.

so much better than the already great first game that i wish this shit was a hundred levels
