Frog Detective 2 is a small evolution of the first game. It features slightly sharper writing, with the titular amphibian being a bit more fleshed out as a character this time around, and the central plot offering a more interesting whodunnit that even involves a moral choice. However, with the sequel fleshing out the mechanics a bit more, it took a few steps back, what with a confusing quest that looks like a sidequest but isn't, and a sluggish UI of a notebook that adds flavor at the cost of nuisance.
Still, it's a short game, not unlike its predecessor. It will make for an entertaining package for a young gamer, and a fine palate-cleanser between other larger games for an adult one.

A tiny little mystery for smart frogs and/or detectives, now accompanied by their trusty and/or decorative notebooks. It feels like the most limited entry in the series, but I checked with a few people and it turns out that doesn’t matter on bit! Phew.
The perfect “children at play” writing is here again, and many a chuckle was had. Like… genuinely, I have so few gripes, especially for price. It was kind of a pain to find one of the pies, I guess? But it’s a tiny little bunch of houses so who cares, it can only delay THIS detective so long.

Yes! Even better than the first one. The humour landed for me moreso this time, and the couple of throwback lines to the first game really got me laughing out loud which doesn't usually happen.
They've added more mechanics, the journal (and sticker mini-game) is a great addition that just helps to flesh out the game a bit.
I almost feel that it's something of a shame that the person who did the "crime" just gets found out/confesses immediately. I know that this is the vibe of these series, but with the mechanic of marking an NPC as a "suspect" in your journal I thought we were going to actually have to do some detective-ing.
Also does the magnifying glass tool actually do anything mechanically or is it just there for funsies? Doesn't really matter but I was thinking about it.
Looking forward to playing number three!

The positivity for these games surprises me. It's not that they're bad or even mediocre games, it's just that their sense of humor doesn't hit with me in the same way it seems like it does for the majority of people. I've seen others refer to these games as genuinely laugh-out-loud funny, but they haven't managed to elicit more than a slight chuckle. Don't get me wrong, these games are certainly charming, but they're not experiences that I've felt like are worth going out of your way to enjoy. They're more like cute, enjoyable time-wasters than the all-time-greats that reception make them out to be. This one also felt a little less charming than the previous one to me, I thought the humor felt more original the first time around, and also enjoyed the map, characters, and interactions a bit more. This one felt more contained and the characters were less memorable. That said, will definitely be checking out the sequel, because I do enjoy this series and its bite-sized charm, I'm just not going to be expecting anything groundbreaking.
Damn. A Witch that can make herself go invisible because she's shy? I need that power lol. Overall a decent game. Wouldn't say it's better than the first, the gameplay is pretty much the same (Get x item for x NPC) but has a weaker story in my opinion. Worth an hour of your time if you want an easy 100%. Me luv Ralph. 7/10

A clear evolution of the first iteration of the series. Still a cute and charming game with fun characters and vibes. All that applies to the first one go here, but with a bigger plot, and a bigger number of characters with their little quirks and backstories, bigger and better.
The addition of the notebook is really useful to connect more with the characters and reminds me of Bugsnax, such a great idea! The final plot is the same concept as the first game’s final plot, but with a silly and charming game like this, it almost feels like part of the charm. Totally worth it.
Another easy case for the world's second-best detective!
