Virtua Fighter 2 on the Mega Drive...it was extremely dire. Absolutely a game that everyone should avoid. One question about this: why did this game, a 3D fighting game, deserve a 2D version on the Mega Drive? And why did this get placed on NSO? This game is terrible...the Mega Drive version that is.
Starting in 2021 with the PS4 release of 5 Ultimate, Virtua Fighter became this funny running gag with a subset of my friends. With the lingering effects of the pandemic still mostly keeping our schedules light, we dedicated Wednesdays to getting together in a lobby and playing Virtua Fighter 5. This barely lasted for very long, but was fun while it lasted, and makes for some great memories.
We tried to relive this energy with a few rounds of VF2 on Mega Drive after playing Streets Of Rage 1, and I immediately had my mind plunged back into the dark days of playing this shit on the Mega Drive PSP Collection while upstairs in my dad's terrible old house at the age of around 7. Some ports of games onto weaker hardware can be impressive. Some are Virtua Fighter 2 on Mega Drive.
