I remember learning about the Anti-Christ in school one day. According to ancient Mongolian legend, to signal the end of days, they would release a game episodically, with an unknown amount of chapters, and an unknown amount of time between each release. It seemed pretty weird to me, but I accepted it because it did sound like some terribly diabolical behavior. I'm glad no one does that though.

This chapter made me actually excited for chapter 3. It is so obviously a huge improvement over chapter 1, although the core problems with Deltarune chapter 1 are still there, namely how unimportant the dichotomy of mercy and attacking are, but hey, it's a dating sim now so what's not to like

toby has not only been able to outdo himself, but every other game i've played this year. it's honestly incredible what this man can do, to the point where we shouldn't be wondering what to expect from a toby fox game, but to ask what we don't expect, as this man will subvert your expectations in the nicest, most horrifying way.
to me personally chapter 1 was a big deal, some of the nicest and most interesting characters ive ever had the pleasure of interacting with in any game ever, and to see toby fox create all new characters that i instantly have fallen in love with like the queen and expand those who didnt get much light in chapter 1 such as noelle and berdly is really great and giving them their own arcs to have is great. toby takes the base of chapter 1 and expands it greatly, adding whole new gameplay mechanics that make the game a lot more interesting, such as more of a reason to spare and possibly the biggest one, adding the no mercy run.
the no mercy runs changes this from a cute little rpg with a dark side to a fucking truamatizer simulator, toby's writing is extremely strong during this and it really something as simple as this is, so much harder because of what you do, you don't kill, you force someone else to, you see their inner psyche break and its unbelievably messed up. but i love it.
battling feels a lot more satisfying thanks to the mercy meter, and the enemies feel a lot more creative thanks to the computer theme, despite the world feeling a little disjointed and linear, it still feels like a world people live in thanks to being told what happens in it, it feels lived in by the queen and other characters like spamton.
the music is also at it's best here, most songs i can see myself jamming to,, it's quite incredible how toby fox can just make soundtracks that just feel like music that you want to have as your theme song in real life. welcome to the city is one of my favourites, along with until next time.
this is chapter 1 of deltarune but 10x the passion and 10x the amazement, and the reveal that there are seven chapters in total was shocking, there is so much effort and amazement, and i am so excited to see where toby takes the lore and excitement of the game next, thank you for creating ralsei toby fox it means a lot please dont reveal he's evil i will cry

i don't know if I've ever been more excited for a game like I have with Deltarune. honestly, i thought that was bad - that it would never live up to my expectations beyond its first chapter. It doesn't. Chapter 2 markedly improves on the presentation and gameplay of Deltarune, it consistently surprised me with fucking insane designs and clever encounters. there's a lot more going on mechanically in this part then there was previously.
not to mention the writing. i have NO fucking clue where it's going and I'm fascinated. the characters have so much more time to breathe than in Undertale and this chapter absolutely makes the most of it, the last segment with Susie especially was so sweet it made me cry a bit. i just love this all so, so much. cannot fucking BELIEVE there's gonna be five more of this, that we're not even a third of the way through makes me feel insane. never anticipated something like i have this, if it continues at this quality it's gonna be my favourite game period. fuckin loved it.

An amazing follow-up to Deltarune Chapter 1 - the jokes all landed, the combat (or lack of combat) was still as fun as ever, the new game mechanics such as recruits were neat, and the new story beats contained in CH2 really make me interested in how Toby is gonna plan on wrapping this all up with the next 5 chapters.
Excellent expansion and improvement to the fundamentals Chapter 1 set down, with more fun characters and incredible character development, amazing music, the gay, and great new gameplay concepts. The game also seems like its trying to slowly ramp up the difficulty in terms of the bullethell/danmaku from time to time.
My excitement for future Chapters only grows further.
