what the fuck
gay little attorney

Fun game with iconic gameplay. Probably don't want to take it too seriously given its strange story and logic, but it's definitely worth the time.

Mendigo juego, no se que decir pero gracia a este juego empezó mi gusto por las novelas visuales. este juego lo he pasado más de 3 veces en telefono y consolas. franquicia perfecta pero que nunca he llegado a jugar los juegos de 3ds.

Its not even that great I just put a lot of time into it so I care about the characters (this applies to all aa games except aa4 and aai2 tbh)

played on switch, technically

might be the funniest game i've ever played line-for-line. the most operatic too. a new twist every hour. feels like this game is to the visual novel what a platinum game is to an action game; that is, pure insane and beautifully chaotic.

where this game really shines for me though are with its characters. i love them all. it's impressive for a game with no voice acting how well it manages to convey personality through a limited range of still animations and expertly crafted dialogue. by the end of the game i was in love with the whole crew and could feel the affection in the room emanating out of my switch. don't want to spend another day without these characters in my life.

can't wait to see where it goes from here but no matter where i'll always have phoenix cross-examining a bird to remember the pure blissful joy that was ace attorney.

A great start to a great series, and still contains two of my favorite culprits in the whole thing. The cast is super memorable, and it has some of the funniest writing I've seen. Also, the localization is great, and it's really funny how much the localization team has to deal with as the series goes on... but in any case, since Capcom keeps rereleasing it, it's a great game that's easily available to anyone who wants to try it. I strongly recommend doing so.

Phoenix calling a parrot to the stand is a top 5 high camp moment in the entire history of video games and possibly media in general

juegazo, de las pocas visual novels que me gustan (aunque este es mas un hibrido)

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is the beginning of one of the best franchises ever made. Cleverly written, packed to the brim with wit and intelligently designed around intricate logic puzzles, Ace Attorney establishes itself as a timeless classic - even when there is a bit of early installment weirdness.

The Granddaddy of modern VNs - deserves it's respect, the writing still holds up, Phoenix is the only lawyer who will survive the revolution otherwise ALAB.

Damn good. Have no reason to play GBA version though.

imagine if edgeworths head was really as big as it is in that cover i wonder how he would kiss his boyfriend without accidently chomping his spiky head off lol

A fantastic introduction to the Ace Attorney series.

I like this one quite a bit. Need to get around to playing the others.

i feel obligated to disclose that i was always giving this game a 3.0/5.0 or higher because of the game's OST. this would've been regardless of the game's writing and gameplay. that's an important qualifier to my opinion on this game, because i think it has one of the absolute best video game tracks to ever exist in "cornered". if you are not someone who values the music in video games, for whatever reason, then please understand that this series will not have the same impact on you that it does on me.

i feel as though it's difficult to sell you on the game as a concept/premise by describing it to you, and instead would do a much better job if you just spent like 5 minutes playing it. the gameplay is far more engaging than "you play as a lawyer who scours testimonies for contradictions" sells it as, and the characters are far more endearing (and wacky) than you would expect from a legal setting. the best thing this game does is that it clearly and immediately establishes its characters and tone, and then proceeds to develop both in a way that demands the player's attention. this is one of the few games where it feels like multiple characters go through arcs that are established, developed, and resolved without any missteps in execution, a compliment that i, surprisingly, struggle to give to many games. even if you only give passing attention to narratives in games, these characters will leave an impact, and at least one will worm their way into your heart.

i've played this game probably 5 times now and i think the only case that really needs any level of editing is turnabout sisters, and mostly in terms of the execution rather than the concept. i strongly dislike how the case resolves even though i know the narrative function it serves, but it's a nitpick on my part. i will forever defend turnabout samurai as the best third case in the series with a strong second place to turnabout big top and a distantish third place to turnabout serenade.

if you've read this far without having played the game, congratulations! you've read enough out of curiosity to justify playing a game that is majority reading. i won't lie to you and pretend the series is unproblematic (the series suffers from a lot of misogyny and transphobia and has racial stereotypes at times) and without fault, or even that it doesn't suffer from an immediate and precipitous drop in quality after the trilogy, but these games are special to me, and i feel as though by saying this, i have not only explained why, but sold anyone curious on playing them.

Episode 5 doesn't exist. I refuse to accept it into cannon

might be the best, comes together really nicely and edgeworth has arguably the best arc (in this game specifically, he kinda just becomes Stuffy Guy later on) of any character in the series

You can't go wrong with this one. Rise to the Ashes drags on a tiny bit, but it's nice to see Ema before she becomes the relatable disillusioned young adult stuck in a dead-end spot far from her dream career.

It's a cool visual novel, the characters are pretty refreshing and the trials can get very tense, a problem I had was with some things that I guess didn't translate that well into English. (Like, "muffler" as in Lana's muffler or the cars' muffler), but asides from that it's really good and a must-play for everybody into these type of games.

Played this on a shitty ass emulator when I was little, still don't regret a single bit

The place where it all started. For its time, amazing concept and very well executed. For me the best case is the bonus case added after the rerelease on the DS.

This game is really strong. It provides a fantastic base for a series, a large cast of characters we can see in a variety of situations, and a story that manages to balance humor and drama perfectly. I just wish some of the cases were tighter and frankly Edgeworth doesn't work well as a main villain.

Baller wish the text scrolled faster <3 the OST unique game actually makes me think try not to use a walkthrough but do use savestates because this game has a less forgiving death system than most platformers

The Ace Attorney series is another series close to my heart, and this first game is my personal favourite.

Not only is solving cases super fun, but the story and storytelling are amazing and exactly what I want out of a visual novel. The characterisation is on point - you have Phoenix, your sarcastic, silly and relatable protagonist; Maya - the best sidekick you could ask for, the game not only makes you care for her but she's also fun, badass, hilarious and the true MVP of this game; Gumshoe - who's loyalty to Edgeworth while also being a huge softie makes him the most loveable detective of all time; and finally, Edgeworth - one of the best-written characters I've had the joy of experiencing, without spoiling anything.

The main characters are the stars of the show and are what make this game so fantastic, but I have to give credit to the other side characters you encounter on each case, who are all ridiculous and simultaneously amazing. They make the Steel Samurai case, which for me is the slowest part of the game, one of the most memorable in the entire series.

The soundtrack is also fantastic. Admittedly some of the investigation themes in this entry get a bit repetitive for me - but the court tracks are so good, with the iconic cornered theme being my favourite.

NOTHING is more satisfying than everything clicking in your head, realising who the murderer was, presenting the correct evidence and hearing that glorious theme play.

This game and series has the best slow burn romance in gaming. From the absolutely gushing with charm world and characters to the enticing edge of your seat gameplay that makes you feel like you dwarf Stephan Hawking's brain, this game is an absolute treat that I can recommend to anyone who can read at or above the fourth grade level.
