I think this is the one where they started adding Reverts which really cranked this game in a new direction tho making it less pure in my opinion and too easy to string whole 2 minute combos and just ice every level.

No skateboarding fan, but this is a fun game regardless.

the only THPS game i’ve meaningfully played but it’s top tier

It's Tony Hawk. Tony Hawk is a good skateboarding game. This one doesn't fuck it up. Good job.

such a good game, a culmination of everything that was good about the arcade era of gaming. The game design wisdom in this title will last for decades

cruise ship one of the best maps in history

Me dá um skate, eu vou fazer um skate que ela não vai skate

The blood scared me away, but I bet I'd really like this game now.

Best album of 2001. Comes with a neat skateboarding game, too.

This was my first GBA game. My dad bought it (and a GBA) when we were moving from Alaska to Texas. It was really kind of him, and I love this game. I beat it 100% multiple times, and still pick it up from time to time.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. This game is like the highest rated Playstation 2 game of all time. You don't need to hear what I have to say about. It speaks for itself.

best in the series by a mile. really accessible, indescribably fun game that anyone can pick up and play in seconds

This is a certified hood classic

Hits the perfect sweet spot between skating enormous lines being complex and doable but also requiring knowledge of the map to really take advantage. The games after this tried to get cute with it (sticker slaps, caveman, grind and flatland shuffling) that meant that combos were more about your ability to spam as many tricks as possible and not worry about the terrain. Also helps that unlike THPS2's godawful map list pretty much all the maps are solid gold in this one (except cruise ship).

Best levels, best soundtrack, best hidden characters, the Cruise Ship. Five stars.

The mechanics just got more solid. New engine, better feeling movement, reverts added in to make it possible to do a combo line anywhere now. The beginning of the series getting outlandish to the point of wildness. A kicker is still useful but not entirely now.

10/10

The first THPS game I properly got into. Landing those reverts with that big GameCube shoulder button was a lovely sensation. Also whenever Ace of Spades comes on the radio in real life and approaches the two minute mark I start panicking about getting a combo started.

the advances made and the philosophical changes that take place in the next game are simply too much for my brain to ignore (bearing in mind that i haven't played 1+2 yet) but those changes are so dramatic that at times it feels wrong to suggest the games before and including this and the games after are even in the same series. i appreciate the type of mastery that 4 onwards demands more but in these smaller levels and with the immense number of repeat playthroughs this game demands there's a deeper desire to push yourself to know every corner of every map like a rally co-driver and then break the game into a thousand pieces, as opposed to just knowing the mechanics. not to mention cruise ship being an extra half a star in its own right.

Might have rented it or played a very little tiny bit before returning. Not enough to properly judge but enough for me to not be motivated to continue.

Don't really remember it, I'm sure it was fine

i love eating shit after failing a trick

For me, this is peak Tony Hawk. Great tracks, great music, the revert allowing for longer combos, it's just my Tony Hawk man. The one I'll always go back to when I'm in the mood to skate.

Si no fuera porque es fácil y (por consecuencia) corto, sería el top de la franquicia.
