Ansioso pra ver como o Will of the Wisps consegue melhorar algo que já é perfeito.

This is a near-perfect metroidvania for me. It's fun to explore, get lost, backtrack, unlock new abilities and rediscover how you can interact with each of the many diverse environments. Upon completion, I got a very satisfying feeling of accomplishment and well-spent time.

I'm a slow player, but it took me around 15h to 100% the map and get all achievements that are available on the first play-through. At first, I thought it's a pity that the map doesn't have markers, but in the end I was able to get all collectibles and discover all secrets without getting bored with repetitive backtracking or looking up online guides. Once you unlock some abilities or beat some "bosses", it becomes easier to traverse other environments, which makes it faster and less boring to go back and get some collectibles that were unavailable before.

The game is pretty well-balanced in my opinion: there were plenty of challenges that required multiple attempts and a combination of puzzle-solving with precision, but it was never so hard that I would rage-quit. I also liked chase challenges instead of boss-fights, just a personal preference, but it was more fun and less anxiety for me.

I usually play several games in parallel, depending on the mood, but once I started Ori, I couldn't stop until I finished it. Surprisingly, this wasn't because of an engaging story, but because of the fun gameplay and overall very enjoyable experience. I think the story-telling just didn't click with me (the god-like tree talking), but the animation in cut-scenes was amazing, just like watching a professionally made short animated film. The animation in the game itself is beautiful, it has an original style, detailed backgrounds and interesting character designs. I played it on a Steam Deck, but always connected it to the big TV screen to enjoy the visuals in details. And to just add to the complete experience, there is a beautiful, elaborate soundtrack, it really creates a great atmosphere and doesn't get old after playing for a while.

P.S. the "Definitive Edition" has a fascinating collection of early prototype sketches and videos of early development. It was fun to watch after playing the game and astounding to see the progress from ideation to the final result.

i loooove the way ori feels to control this game is so good

Ori and the Blind Forest is a great platformer, but it might be lacking in combat systems and replayability if those are things you care about in metroidvania games.

The platforming itself feels great, with every new mechanic you get access to throughout the game lending itself very well to making movement feel fluid and seamless. Combat is a bit on the dull side, with very few differing enemy designs across the whole game, the player often getting to meet reskinned enemies with slightly different behavior and upgraded stats as they progress. As such, there are no bosses, with chase sections that test your platforming skills taking their place. This admittedly fits the game's strengths to a T.

Outside of gameplay, the game's visuals, sound design, OST and the storytelling complement each other perfectly to deliver a great atmosphere and make the forest of Nibel feel alive. Exploring the wilderness is made very intuitive thanks to how the in-game map functions, though it might make it a bit too easy if exploring is what you enjoy most out of a metroidvania.

Very fun, and I'll likely play it again! For sure recommend it.

The only thing stopping me from giving this a 5 is the underdeveloped combat and the platforming, which is REALLY GOOD, but it’s sometimes so tedious that it stops being fun and gets a little frustrating (luckily the sequel improves on both of these and more)

Apart from that, this is an incredibly beautiful, quite challenging game with a really cute and emotional story and an OST so gorgeous, you might just burst into tears from the menu music alone. This soundtrack is unlike anything I’ve heard in games before. Truly a hidden gem that I hope more people discover, with some chase/escape segments that really stand out. The Ghibli Movie of gaming.

Que puedo decir es una obra maestra, ori es un metroidvania con un arte espectacular ademas de tener una banda sonora que te deja con los pelos de punta, sin decir que el gameplay es solido

I‘ve restarted this game a few times, each time hoping that it will suddenly click with me. Never happened. I adore the story and the way the game looks, but the controls and save system just aren’t for me. A good lesson learned though - just because you love Hollow Knight doesn’t automatically mean you’ll love most metroidvanias out there. Personally I’d recommend Death’s Door if you’re looking for a game with a similar vibe/gameplay to Hollow Knight.

Beautiful ass game but I am currently stuck (I suck at metroidvanias)

graphics and gameplay great
soundtracks decent
story okay-ish
7/10

Excellent metroidvania, superior t

Honestly loved this one. Aside from a few frustrating bits it was nice to see the story unfold with some incredible movement based platforming and metroidvania level design.

the real blind forest was the friends we made along the way

This game is amazing. Visuals, gameplay, music.... it has it all. Top tier metroidvania.

I picked up Ori and the Blind Forest on a Steam sale. Despite the astonishingly beautiful intro, three minutes into the gameplay I thought, "Oh. This." The obvious rhythm of the abused metroidvania design. I stopped playing, disappointed.

Two years later I decided on a whim to give it another go...and I'm glad I did.

The layout was still uninspired, as was the default attack and the internal story logic, but partway through I unlocked the highly expressive (though confusingly named) "Bash" mechanic. It recontextualized the game by turning obstacles into opportunities and transforming the already agile Ori into a trapeze artist.

And the Ginso Tree escape sequence -- the best of the game's faux-boss-battles -- should go down in history as a top-tenner VG set-piece.

I finished the game without unlocking all of the abilities?

A remarkably beautiful game with controls that feel great. My only gripes with it are rather minor, but include:
There are a bunch of sections (especially the escape sections) where unless you already know what's coming up, you just don't have enough time to react before a death trap.
Occasionally it's hard to discern what is a backdrop, foreground or an actual object you can interact with, which at one occasion made me jump onto a platform that wasn't really a platform.
* The game ends a bit too early, and I didn't really feel like I had explored everything yet.

But don't let those criticism stop you from playing this game. It's a great metroidvania and it's really, really beautiful.

I don't like Ori and the blind forest, despite what most people say about the game. The graphics are weird, the gameplay is a little dull. The story is something more like a Studio Ghibli type of thing, which while engaging in a movie i can't say the same for a game (well, at least THIS game). What a shame

Original Steam Review:

Ori and the Blind Forest is an incredible experience with so much love put into it.

The first thing anyone should notice about the game is how beautiful it looks. The colors are vibrant and eye-catching, and the art style is unique and cohesive. Thankfully, the detailed environments almost never distract the player from the game. There were very few instances in which I lost sight of Ori.

As for the flow of gameplay, I've never felt anything better in terms of platformers. Controlling Ori works extremely well and the more movement enhancing abilities I garnered, the more fun I had exploring the environments. Moon Studios knew exactly how a Metroidvania style platformer should feel, and it shows.

Speaking of environments, the level design is really engaging and allows for multiple ways to achieve the same goal once Ori learns more abilities. Backtracking through the levels in search of secrets and bonuses feels very natural as well. This is also prevalent in the great world design. Everything flows between one location and another and it never feels jarring. I can get from any point on the map to another without needing a fast travel option (there is one). As I explored and re-explored the world, I noticed things I didn't before, which led me down new paths to make new discoveries.

The story the game presents is a simple one, but an effective one and that is all it needed to be.

Music is another major plus for the game. From calming waves of sound while you're exploring, to thunderous, heart-pounding escape music, this game has one of the best soundtracks I've heard. It always fits the pace of the gameplay, even during the most hectic moments, and forces the player along, inspiring them, calming them, or intriguing them.

The only warning I can give for the game is that it is not easy. While I completed it in only about 7 hours (9 1/2 to 100% that playthrough), some moments, particularly some of the climactic chases are a little frustrating and take several attempts. That is not to say the game is impossible, far from it. It just takes a little patience and learning.

Amazing game, start to finish, Great story which captures the emotion and storytelling so well considering it has only a narrator and no voice acting. This is by far one of the best platformers I have ever played in my entire gaming experience, Not easy yet not too hard. It's a great challenge with some amazingly unique sections to playthrough. I also LOVE the soundtrack, so fitting. Going for 100% on this was a blast, so addicting.
Picking this up for £3 in the Autumn sale was a steal! Thank you devs. Cannot wait for the second one!

I cried.

(No I did not beat the One Life Achievement. It scares me.)

Mesmerizing art style, enchanting music. Platforming could be frustrating at times.

This game was pretty cool. I was frustrated at some points but i think it was due to me not having played many 2d platformers up until this point. Overall I enjoyed my time with Ori, and to be honest, am still heavily debating trying to 100% it.

A fun but difficult platformer. Honestly, I'm not the best at platformers, but does that stop me from playing them? No way. The art is mighty pretty too, and that was what drew me in. The atmosphere can feel so grim or heartwarming or mysterious, The developers were able to capture the tone so perfectly. Some scenes were also very cute to watch. I recommend this game, yeah:)

feels great to play, really good music
