A lot of emotions in this one. Amazing experience.

Heartwarming story, fun platforming, and great visuals.

Although I enjoyed Ori and the Blind Forest, the movement isn't as accurate as I would like it to be; and having to rely on enemies for some sequences can be frustrating. But the poor save system was my only real complaint. If you run out of energy cells, it can really shoot you in the leg.

Overall, I recommend Ori and the Blind Forest. 7/10

To say that this isn't a visually breathtaking world would be disingenuous. In a video game landscape that consistently attempts to one-up itself with photorealistic visuals, we have titles like this that will actually age gracefully with the test of time.

Ori handles like a dream. Inputs are precise, abilities are integral and level layout is suburb. Music gracefully elevates every moment like a masterstroke on a painting.

However, as much as I can sing its praises it isn't without faults. Its combat is inconsistent and I didn't find too many reasons to return to old locations like a good metroidvania should have. These problems are rather glaring at times but it didn't shake my overall enjoyment of the game.

Moon Studios clearly took a lot of inspiration from other movies and games to make this title. And I am sure that future creatives will take inspiration from Ori when making their own works of art.

I don't get the hype necessarily but looking back retrospectively I can appreciate the amazing graphics and world design. On the other hand the combat is deadly simple and boring while the chase scenes can be infuriating.

An incrdible game, one of the best platformers I have ever played. I loved the way that even at the end of the game you still unlock new abilities and new ways to progress even in previous areas of the game. The soundtrack and the visuals are just so fucking amazing, its awsome how you can find your own way to progress in game even not through the abilities or the story, for example there are places that you have to get the bash to get to but if you use the triple jump you can get to some of them. Speaking of the story, its just a great concept where you have three majors danger events I loved every one of them but even if you dont focus on the main events you can unlock the lore through exploration. The game is not easy and you will die a lot of times but honestly i love that about the game, it makes you be cautious and always keeps you on high alert. Allover awsome game i recommend especially if you like platformers like hollow knight.

Amazing platformer , you can't replay the game after ending you get sent right before :/

Make me cry speedrun world record completed here. Loved it enough to 100% a save.

Très bon platformer, Graphisme magnifique, gameplay bon et fluide.

Certaines zones sont assez pénible (zone pour obtenir la clé pour accéder au mont horu)

Ori and the Blind Forest is a visually stunning and emotional adventure that is well worth the price of admission based on presentation alone. Gameplay involves platforming, with various movement mechanics like a unique projectile parry, and combat to fill the spaces between. Combat is admittedly shallow, especially compared to its sequel, but it has just enough depth to avoid getting tedious by the end of this 10-hour title. The musical score of the Blind Forest is incredible, containing emotional and energetic tracks alike. Overall, the Blind Forest is overshadowed by its sequel, but several key moments (namely the incredibly presented escape sequences) still absolutely hold their own and make the title worth playing before WotW.

Great art and fluid controls drive this game. I honestly can't remember what the story is about but the gameplay was very satisfying.

A beautfiul adventure that starts here and is a fun experience all the way through. my only thing i don't like is the combat is very lack luster but the second game fixes this issue. both are amazing experiences

Absolutely stunning game, feelse like youre playing an art peice and is visually one of my favourites of all time. it can get very frustrating when you cannot progress but thats mostly because its my first platformer and im not too good yet. 4/5

Atmosferidir hikayesidir güzel ama atak neden tek bir tuşa bağlı mq.

Great visuals, good platforming, boring combat.

direção de arte incrível e ótima jogabilidade

it's good but it feels very safe

the only reason this isn't a 5/5 is because Will of the Wisps exists

Two days ago I completed a game animated by Don Bluth, Dragon's Lair, but if I'm sincere something that has the vibe and QUALITY of a dark Bluth work ala Secret of Nimh is this one, Ori and the Blind Forest

A simple but dark fairytale where the survival of a forest of light depends on casting outside the dark, and with that, the creatures made of it, so the entire game is trying to restore the capacity to survive while going against one of those creatures, whose newborns were anhiliated by their opposite element just for being made of darkness. It's a sad set up with a rather bittersweet ending to the antagonist which comes together pretty nicely under some very adrenalinic and intense moments

The reason this isn't a 7/10 however is because the whole finale is built up around the adoptive mother of the protagonist reviving with a certain mcguffin which wasn't specified to have this property. This feels rather cheap especially because of the beautifully directed opening "montage" of the lives of mother and son. Imagine if Ellie was revived around the finale of Disney Pixar's Up (another work with a great montage at the beginning that visually comunicates all the warmth that across time faded), that's how I felt. If it didn't have that, the finale would have hit a lot harder than just having her show up to remind the owl of the sacrifice that is motherhood

I also want to say, regarding my brother's hypes that this was better than Hollow Knight, I think that Team Cherry's posterior effort is a game that's much more in depht, gameplay wise (seriously, Ori is a baby's first metroidvania for how easy it is) and lore wise (a children's animated movie vs the deciphering of a kingdom in ruins), and the marrying of these two together ala Dark Souls, and as such it would still be a better all around game compared to the more simpler beauty of Ori as a whole even if the faults on the story were solved (though I still think the more concise visual information and limited color pallete of HK is easier to read than Ori's attention to detail in the environments, particularly noticeable when climbing the tree and teleporting around the screen), which is not a bad thing, Ori is still an adequate work of art and both have their charm.

superficial, good preparation for the next game in the series

Mega gra na rozwojowej stosowanej

Um jogo extremamente emocionante com uma arte impecável, a história também é incrivelmente boa. Um jogo maravilhoso principalmente se você estiver na espera de Hollow Knight Silksong

Really good, solid platformer that has a lot of fun secrets and abilities to find and use. Movement is SUPER fun here, and is just overall a great, solid platformer.

I didnt get the dash :(, good game tho

When I first played Ori and the Blind Forest on my Nintendo Switch in 2016, I repeatedly asked myself why I didn't like it as much as the overwhelmingly positive fandom. I gave the original Ori (not the definitive edition), a 3.5, mostly because it doesn't satisfy in the overall gameplay aspect. However, I loved the story and atmosphere of the game, especially the music.

For multiple reasons, playing Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition enraged me like no other game has ever done. Although I still adore the story and art direction of the game, Ori DE is atrociously designed.

First of all, the 'Hard' and 'One-Life' difficulties are not fun and borderline unfair. There are at LEAST 50 things that can one-shot you, mostly in the early game. What these things are, I could not tell you. Spikes sometimes do 2 damage, or 12, or 16. Not only spikes are inconsistent in damage numbers, but so are enemies. The amount of times I instantly died to something that only did 1 damage a few minutes before is baffling. Enemies are placed in the most frustrating spots, can kill you in spots they should not be able to reach, can kill you while picking up items or going through doors, and their projectiles will stay in the same spot whenever you enter or exit a room, making it possible to get one-shot by enemy attacks whenever returning to that room. How did these elements get into the Definitive Edition? I just can't wrap my head around it.

To make it even more frustrating, the achievement tied to 'One-Life' difficulty is bugged for some reason. Whenever you die, you must delete your save and restart from the main menu, or you will not get the achievement. Some other achievements are also bugged, but they can be earned by uninstalling and reinstalling, thankfully. Again...Definitive Edition, really?

To make matters worse, the beautiful graphics of Ori DE were also ruined for me. The game stutters, making it almost unplayable. I had to play on someone else's PC to be able to get the One-Life achievement, which is a major bummer. I have the original version of Ori on my PC as well, and that one works fine. Do I even need to repeat the question anymore?

Aside from the aforementioned problems, Ori and the Blind Forest just feels much weaker in comparison to Ori and the Will of the Wisps. In my opinion, the latter plays much more like a solid Metroidvania, especially in regards to combat, exploration, reward and boss battles. This was already my opinion when I first played Ori on my Switch, and it hasn't changed since.

If you decide to play Ori DE, make sure you have the right graphics card (has nothing to do with how old it is) and play the game on easy or normal difficulty, because otherwise you will start hating this beautiful piece of art just like I do right now.
