Look, this is my first modern Fire Emblem game so there is some bias to my fondness for this game. The modern additions to this game are great, though I'm sure many of those features are not so new to this franchise.

As someone familiar with a lot of the older heroes of Fire Emblem, I really enjoyed the summoning/ring system this game features. There are a few duds in terms of ability and I wish there was one more to make late game roster full of ringed units but these complaints are quite minor.

The tried and true gameplay of this franchise is still here and still quite good. If you aren't a fan of that tactical/rock-paper-scissor style gameplay, this won't change your mind in that department.

Story wise, it's what you'd expect. It's a little weak and the overall characters aren't the most interesting. When you have so many characters though and summons, there are good characters but you've got SO MANY that they all start to feel like generic sword person #10 at times with ones that you might not be using as much, if ever.

If you like these games, it's a solid entry in the franchise. If you're not high on these games though, I don't think this is going to do anything to change your mind, especially with a weaker story.

Tomodachi life is one of those games that often gets overlooked and neglected by Nintendo which is a shame because the game is pretty fun for a while, but that's all it really is... fun for a little while. Tomadachi life has little to no replay value once you've played it for a couple hours, the game is very shallow when you take a good look at it. The start of the game is fun when your making your friends, family, and favourite celebrities but it's once you get into the actual meat of tomodachi life that you start to realise there's not an awful lot to do. I will say I was surprised just how well the text to speech holds up, like it still says most words fairly well. Overall, Tomodachi life is just silly, wacky fun if your looking for something to play but just don't be expecting to be playing for too long.

00:00:00 a legend is born, like the comment if thats a certified [TRUE...]!! A series that actually came out of nowhere, the first entry set a lot of right things for the series, you can do some fancy combos when God allows it and it's important to mention that the game isn't as easy as you might expect. Even breaking the targets and boarding platforms is a hurdle. I guess "beginner friendly" didn't apply to side modes, Mr. Sakurai (I am grossly exaggerating). I realized early on that in this dog gone world, only a Fox could help me prevail... he's really easy to pick up as any true Smash fan would know, he even got me Ness unlocked on the first try! That, and Luigi wasn't available. You bet I would have picked him. WAIT WHY IS HE LAST IN THE TIER LIST ERRRRM WHAT THE SCALLOP

The UI sometimes feels like... it's from a flash game?? I know Super Smash Flash exists but I mean... a true essence of the art direction. It does fit the theme of a kid playing with figurines, having his first foray into the arts of violence. Good thing he wore gloves too, wash yo hands kids. Who knows where he put them? SUPER SMAAAAASH BROTHEEEEERS!! Sorry, I just wanted to add that line somewhere, those are some words you can hear instantly indeed.

The first entry kinda lies at the middle ground of speed with its peers, Ultimate plays a little faster, here we can take breaks between smash attacks and vibe. There are also breaks in the "story mode", which is just an advanced classic mode, kind of. If there was a Race of the Finish with themes like Metroid, that could have been a nice teaser of a Metroid game on the N64, although the stage may be enough.. I s'pose. Since this is an "Arena fighter", surely the arenas must be good. Well, I think they did a good job overall, although it would have been nice to see a stage for Captain Falcon and Ness of course.

I'm glad the crowd has always been going bonkers in Smash Bros. Kinda curious what makes it the only rated E for everyone game in the series, though. Stupid sexy Captain Falcon has always been here?? Maybe he got some cake in Melee I'm not aware of. There are no trophies yet, but there's a certain charm in the character bios that cycle through animations every 2 seconds. Non-ADHD people, this is what ADHD is like. That, or the complete opposite being hyperfixation if it played a different animation every month, which we don't have time for.

Last things I will mention before wrapping things up is Battlefield and Final Destination. Not being pickable as stages is truly the moment of all time. It makes sense though if we got a game that wants to forgo all links with fighting game communities. As it stands, they're just the home of a Polygon team. But I kinda prefer calling them the Dummy Corps. They're a lost art since Smash 4 that I would have liked to see again.

and here we are let's meet the ultimate life-form : specimen ID-F86!

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is just a fantastic 2D side-scroller that is a breath of fresh air for a series that has remained so stagnant for far too long. The levels in this game, while not overly different from it’s “New” counterparts, are a blast to go through with a fresh coat of paint in the form of new and varied enemies, wonderful and whimsical animations, and of course the central gimmick of this game, the Wonder Flowers. The joy I felt when entering and playing through the “Piranha Plants on Parade'' level was just fantastic. I especially love the scavenger hunt levels where you have to find all the Wonder Tokens hidden cleverly though the entire level. While they might be frustrating when playing alone, using the online multiplayer functionality, it's simply fun to have everyone scramble and work together to find each of the Tokens hidden away in the level. In addition, the three new power-ups introduced in this title, the Bubble Flower, Drill Mushroom, and Elephant Fruit all feel so unique and varied in utility. I can go for any of them without feeling like I’m losing out on mobility or usefulness, which frankly is something I can’t say about most Mario games. It really feels like 2D Mario has caught up to where its 3D counterpart has reached. It may not be the best 2D platformer I have ever played, but it’s still a damn good time.

Good shit. Addictive gameplay loop with nigh-infinite possibilities for teambuilding. Only gripe is that it's pretty grindy, the candy costs for unlocking passives are STEEP. That said, it's still possible to beat classic without anything unlocked with smart play and knowledge of the type chart. Also just thought I'd mention winning classic is probably one of the most rewarding things I've ever experienced in a game. I won't spoil it, but it'll have you grinning ear to ear.

There is a second mode, endless. Unfortunately, it relies on cheese strats to get to the later levels due to the amount of bullshit it throws at you so I just stick to classic.

Giving it minus half a star because the endless mode is not my cup of tea, but classic is still worth beating at least once imo.

Shame about all the discord drama.

Pretty good stuff, visually breathtaking with excellent combat. Shame the story is pretty guff and made up of plot points from superior games. Still a great time and I'll play the sequel for sure.

In the time that I had my Switch, I did not finish many games for it. But, there were some exceptions. This game is exhilarating from beginning to end. The concept alone has you at the edge of your seat, and it allows for exciting gameplay variations. Some of my favorite moments in the game were when I was in the body of obstacle or enemy. I also want to mention the ending where you possess Bowser and run through his crumbling castle. It’s just so fun.

An immaculately constructed action game with finely tuned escalation of mechanical density. This is an example of a pure video game. I'd have liked to be able to disable the crosshair, but sadly the developers have shutdown after failing to secure funding for the next game. The only other possible way this could be better is with an arena/level editor.

super fun and short singleplayer movement shooter. makes u feel like a total badass in the process of shredding waves

Refreshing and engaging with new mechanics and abilities that always kept on being introduced throughout the entire game. Great OST, looks great, plays great and the story while a tad uninspired carries itself moreso with a genuinly likeable central cast and side characters you must protect!

Can't help stressing out how fun it is to play around with all the costume unlocks and alternate hairstyles, a rare treat to have this much cosmetic content actually as base content!

While at times difficult, the game is always generous with checkpoints and stocking up on consumables, this combined with how fun the mechanics are makes it a fun game to keep on mastering. Outside of combat there is a neat variation of different gameplay elements ranging from shooter sections, platforming and puzzlesolving to open world areas.

Still got new game+ to play through which apparently has a buckton of whole set of new unlocks and extra content.

In short, it's peak.

Arms

2017

Ehhhh. This is kinda a nothing game tbh. No reason to play more than a couple hours.

Except the "Get Arms" target game, that part reminds me of Coin Launcher in Smash bros brawl and i love it. If Nintendo sold Coin Launcher as a separate $60 release I'd probably buy it.

PokéRogue is, in my opinion, very much too ambitious for its own good. It's an insane endeavor, for a browser game, to do all that it does (and indeed, even just on a mechanical level, a lot of abilities and moves are still not implemented, though obviously that will pass with time), and at a base level, it does it pretty well. Along the way to the final boss, you'll fight a bunch of wild pokemon trainers, gym leaders, E4+Champion and a rival, and after every fight you get a random item. It adapts Pokémon to a roguelite formula fantastically well- the more Pokémon you get, the more eggs you hatch, the more options you unlock. And on the other hand, every run is different, because while you will eventually start with your absolute best aces, you'll have to fill up the rest of the team with whatever else you run into (probably something like a Gyarados and an Ursaluna, if you're like me).

That is all well and good, but where it falls apart is just how much stuff there is. Mainline Pokémon has over 1000 critters now, 900+ moves and 300+ abilities- that is all just way too much for one game to feature. This isn't about Dexit, there's never been a Pokémon game where more than like, 150-200 Pokémon are available to catch before the credits roll, and I might still be highballing that number. And those games are some 20 hours long if you're rushing, PokéRogue is only... well it's like, 3 hours long, but we'll get to the length in a second. My point is, this is just too much. The sheer number of options means they cannot possibly be balanced at all, which paradoxically makes the game feel more repetitive because why the hell would I use most Pokémon when I could use much more versatile and minmaxed equivalents? A Pidgeot is never going to hold a candle to a Staraptor, and why would I ever use a Donphan when I have access to Great Tusk for just a few points more? Worse than that, only a few select strategies are really viable. By the late game every boss 'mon is going to be holding a few Lum Berries, which is going to make status effect-based strategies fare pretty poorly. On the other hand, stat boosts last until you enter a trainer battle, so anything that can do those well is automatically high tier (You can't take those buffs into Gym Leader fights, but you can against boss wild Pokémon. Plus, with the somewhat janky AI, you can definitely find some opportunities to set up a sweep). Also, the final boss and the Rival's ace are always the same, so you'll really want to build around them by the end. Starting with anything other than the "ol' reliables" you'll inevitably get a few of quickly begins to feel like a self-imposed challenge, and with how incredibly fucking long the game is, that's just not appealing.

Length, in fact, is in my opinion PokéRogue's biggest flaw. When I said the game took about three hours to beat, I was not kidding, runs go between 3 and 4 hours which is just nuts for a game that's mostly going to be you clicking the same move on a wild Pokémon 20 levels weaker than yours. It just doesn't need to be like that, too. You can get up to level 200 compared to the official games' cap at 100, but learn-sets still go up to 100 so the latter half of your journey will be a lot more samey (unless you replace some of your Pokémon, but it's not like the new ones will be learning anything new on their own too), and so much of any playthrough is just fighting wild Pokémon that it's really easy to see how a lot of that could be cut off. Make every 10th floor from 10 to 80 be a gym leader fight, 80-90 is the E4 and 90-100 is the finale, and you've cut off the runtime in half and the amount of actual content seen by like, 5%. The difficulty might feel better, too- a lot of the game is trivial, but you're eventually going to hit a brick wall that just sweeps you and have to restart from scratch (or just reload your browser page and start the fight over...). I just don't understand why this free game feels the need to have so much padding, there's even an infinite mode for those who do want the game to go on longer, but at least for me it does ruin a lot of the fun- it's incredibly addictive, so it's common for me to want to start a run, but I know that halfway through I'll be absent-mindedly clicking Waterfall after setting up a few Dragon Dances with my Gyarados, while watching a Youtube video. So I dunno, extremely impressive effort, but I do feel the result is only kind of ok.

POLICE SUMMONER ANIME HACK N SLASH AHHHHH

I personally really enjoyed it. Transformation scene getting its’ own anime song that plays everytime is great. The gameplay is a bit repetitive, the actual comboing is pretty cool tho and the ending is extreme sequel bait but I won’t be mad if I have to wait for it. Also collecting cats is cool.
