[Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Reimagined]

Haunted House is the fourth Reimagined Atari game from the 50th Anniversary collection. This is honestly a pretty decent remake of the original, though personally, I find it extremely boring but I do appreciate the art style a lot. It overall reminds me of the NES 3D classic on 3ds where they could go from 2D to 3D, other than the art style they made the game actually playable because in the original Haunted House I couldn't understand a damn thing so congrats to them for making this classic actually playable, though it doesn't make the game any more interesting to play.

VCTR-SCTR is the third game in the Reimagined collection and oh my god, they did it, they turned an old Atari game fun- Wait not just one, but four different games into a single one. This game is a combination of Asteroids, Lunar Lander, Tempest, and Battlezone with seamless transitions in between each game phase, it reminds me of Wario Ware with how you just play short bursts of each of these four games with a cool transition in between, it's honestly just an awesome little title and definitely one of the highlights of this entire collection.

Neo Breakout is the second Reimagined game from the 50th Anniversary collection and holy fuck, I'm so bad at Breakout...

This game is pretty much just Breakout but with an art style similar to the bit trip games, the main standout of this game is it's versus mode which is a mix between breakout and pong and I hate it because I'm terrible at it, not bad though.

Quadratank is a reimagined version of the game "Tank" originally made by Kee Games, it is the first game in the reimagined lineup made exclusively for the Atari 50th Anniversary Celebration and it's such a fun idea to remake these really old titles, the only issue is that even with this modern coat of paint it's still not fun to play. I wasn't expecting an insane remake or anything but it just proves how old Atari games didn't age well and I doubt any of the coming Reimagined titles will be anything to write home about, though I would love them to surprise me with a decent game.

About Quadratank the game is pretty similar to its original version, the main difference lies in the graphics since they gave the game some simple 3D models to replace the 2D sprites and the other would be about the gameplay since they added a bunch of powerups and game settings to add to the replay value, unfortunately for me, I hate how the game controls, I know it was made on purpose to mess with the player and have fun with friends or something but if you are the type of friend who forces 3 people to play Quadratank with you, you are the devil.

I hope Fairune 3 will play like Virtual Hydlide.

Fairune 2 is a sequel that only serves as an upgrade to its predecessor where it doesn't try to switch things around but only try to be more of what we previously had, on paper this sounds great but at the end of the day it only ended up adding more backtracking and confusing cryptic puzzles which got me really bored halfway through the game. My favorite part of Fairune 1 was the fact that it was extremely short, you can beat it in under two hours on your first playthrough, but Fairune 2 took me 6 god damn hours to finish, the simple gameplay of Fairune is fine for 2 hours but not 6!

I don't have much else to say about this game other than I honestly prefer the original, it's not any better gameplay wise it's just a simpler game and more fun to go through, the backtracking of Fairune 2 just really killed it for me.

[Reviewing the version from the Fairune collection]

Can't believe they made Hydlide good.

Fairune is an extremely short RPG that plays like Hydlide or the original Legend of Zelda on the NES, the game is really straightforward as there's barely any input required, the enemies are automatically defeated and automatically drain one or two HP for you and fill your XP bar which when leveled up you get to kill new enemies and get more HP. The only actions you can do in this game are to walk and use an item you found via the inventory and that's all, you don't need much for a basic puzzle-action game, some may find this a bit too basic but I really enjoyed figuring out the puzzles and not having to worry much about the combat is somewhat nice, though after a while you'll have to grind a specific type of enemy to unlock another so you can advance onward and it can be a bit annoying if they didn't wanted us to combat why force grinding then?

Other than the unnecessary grinding this game is well made and it's hard to fuck up a 2-hour long game. I do recommend this game for anyone who likes old-school RPG or something more modern like 3D Dot Game Heroes.

This game is like Undertale 2

Deadbolt is a game where you play as the reaper on a quest to kill evil drug dealers in the realm of the dead. This game parodies cops who raid Druglord but gives this lighthearted tone with unique devilish creatures like zombies, vampires, skeletons, and demons to avoid being too realistic and controversial.
The goal is pretty simple, the goal is usually to just kill all undead in the building you are raiding, it can go from being pretty easy to be a challenging puzzle that will use every neuron in your brain to do everything right under the right timing, it's in the same veins as a game like Super Meat Boy where you just die and retry till you can get it right.

The game is pretty short and you can easily do it in under 5 hours which is a perfect length for this kind of game. This game always has been a personal favorite of mine ever since it was released, and also one of the oldest games I've played but never fully beaten and it was finally time to get this out of my backlog, after 7 years...

I wonder if they bundled this game with Clone High DVDs...

JFK Reloaded isn't a remake of a game called JFK mind you, it's a unique game where you play as the person who assassinated our beloved John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
This isn't much of a game, to be honest, it's more of a tech demo that tried to be as offensive as possible and I can't really defend this game much. Comparing it to a game like Postal 2 which tries to be controversial but it's all crafted in a comical way where it's more of a satire like a playable satire movie or a political comic, JFK Reloaded is just a simulation of the assassination of JFK and to the game credit, it's extremely well made.

As previously mentioned, the goal is to reenact the murder of JFK and you need to do it in the most historically accurate way possible because if you fail a single thing your score will lower. At the end of each run, you get a scoreboard showing the things you've done properly and the things you've missed or done in the wrong way, and the game is extremely picky so you better be one hell of a hitman.

It's a bit hard to rate this game as it's just a tech demo but as a tech demo it's really impressive and realistic for 2004, as a game it's fun to try once or twice but after that, you'll just get bored.
Should you try this "game"? Up to you whether you find this offensive or not, it's worth a try if you are curious or just like games where you play as a Sniper.

I feel like this game is in the same timeline as FJK Reloaded.

Mr.President! is a "3D platformer" with the goal of saving Trump by either takin the bullet for him or getting him out of the way, each stage is structured in a way where you need to reach the end while avoiding the obstacle or else you'll fall into a ragdoll animation similar to how goat simulator plays.
As dumb as this game sounds it's a ton of fun for the most part, it's mostly good because the idea is silly and it's fun to die and retry but some stages are just straight up badly designed and really makes you wish you had the ability to skip that stage, it doesn't feel like Super Meat Boy for example where you always feel like it's your fault for not being able to complete a stage, Mr.President! relies a bit too much on the ragdoll randomness to complete certain stage and it can be really frustrating, and yes I'm talking about the Putin stages they are terrible.

Other than that this game features two wrestling side modes which one of them makes you play as Trump and your goal is to put all of the immigrants out of the ring, and in the second one you play as the body guard and you have to do some takedown wrestling moves to trump, I don't know anything about wrestling so call that however you want. Trump's game mode isn't particularly fun but I had a lot of fun with the Bodyguard's one.

You probably already noticed that the humor of this game is particularly dated and pretty much only made sense in 2016, nobody really talks about Trump anymore and that's probably why nobody talks about this game anymore, it was just a silly viral game and we pretty much all enjoyed our time either playing it or watching our favourite youtubers playing it because back then everyone played it!
Should you play this game? For sure, it's a ton of fun and nobody cares about dated political jokes, if the game is fun then it's worth a playthrough.

This game reminds me of the on-rail minigame in Rayman raving rabbids.

Gal*Gun is an on-rail shooter franchise that just doesn't really do anything unique in its gameplay but it's definitely not something you can say about the presentation and plot. The plot of the game is pretty straightforward, you play as a boy who got hit by a powerful love angel arrow and now every woman loves you, your goal is to find your true love before the end of the day to live the rest of your life with her.
With this plot, you are now tasked to travel the whole school while hitting women with your pheromone shots which are used as the gun system for this game. The overall gameplay is really basic as something you'd expect from an on-rail shooter, you just hit the girls like you'd hit a zombie in House of the Dead, and you hit the girl's weak spots just like you'd do in any other on-rail shooters.

The game is extremely short like most on-rail shooters but here you have some replay value as there are different endings based on choices you make during cutscenes or based on your overall love score which is done by playing minigames placed in-between missions and these honestly suck, some are easy and some can but straight up broken, they ruin the pace of the game and they take ages to go through, I don't like them.

I personally only went for one ending and I don't need much else to be honest, one playthrough is good enough and I don't want to replay the same stage over and over with those stupid minigames and a bunch of stages are just variations of old ones so it feels really repetitive at time.

Should you play it? Yeah, it's silly so why not. This one is probably most people's pick for their first rodeo with gal gun since it's really cheap on steam and it seems to be the first game of the franchise because gal gun 2 exists and it's actually the third game, gal gun double peace being the sequel to gal gun which was an Xbox 360 game that received a remake recently but it's too expensive so I just picked Double peace.

This game goes from killing asians till it becomes a copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 mixed with Indiana Jones...

Hitman: Codename 47, also known as Hitman 1 but not Hitman 1 (2016) I mean Hitman 1 (2000) god bless reboots title. To this game's credit, it's pretty damn impressive for a 3D "realistic" stealth game it may have bad missions, confusing objectives, terrible controls, and a putrid art style but it still is impressive for a game from the 2000s, do I respect it enough to actually do a full playthrough of the game? Dear god no I dropped the game when the jungle shit started and I was like "Oh god a giant empty forest map with boring objectives, fuck this shit I'm out" and here I am ranting about 1/4th of the game.
Though, to all of my compatriots reading this review thinking "I wonder if I should play this game...", one thing you can do is enable cheat, type "Giveall", and play against the rules.

Another thing that I thought was neat is the background story of Agent 47, it's probably the only remarkable thing from the game as I actually never really wondered "Who is 47?" and I don't think they ever tried to question that in the recent reboot trilogy.

Don't play this game if you love yourself, just watch a quick story resume like this one on Youtube and play the second or third entry which is most likely way better.

I think they stopped Mr. Domino because I don't think he's coming back anytime soon...

No One Can Stop Mr. Domino! is a fast-paced endless runner in the veins of Temple Run or Minion Rush for cultured people, it pretty much is one of the first auto-runner games with one unique quirk being the fact that you place Domino all over the map which is one big circuit that endlessly repeats. The goal is to place lines of domino that Mr. Domino leaves behind him and to avoid the danger ahead while paying attention to activation blocks which when the dominos fall onto it, it will activate a trap like something you'd see in a mouse trap game and then activate the next line of domino you placed if it was on an orange transparent block.
I know this sounds weird but get in my place I don't think anyone wants to explain how Mr. Domino works you should just try it yourself, it's short and fun, with only 6 stages that can be beaten under an hour.

My main complaint about this game is the lack of content since only 6 levels is a bit too short, I at least wished they included side modes or just more things to give it more replay value because it's always gonna be the same six-stage with the same map so you can just remember all six maps and voila you can perfectly beat Mr. Domino, a map randomize mode would've been welcomed.
The second complaint is about the controls, this game is so fun to play but oh the controls... I can't stand the controls!... It's so stiff to move him around, you need to hold left for a bit for him to go left, you can't just tap and then he goes left once, it always ends up fucking things up at random when the game just doesn't want to work.

We need more Mr. Domino in our life.

So it seems Final Fantasy finally caught on the trend of making the whole English cast British, huh...

So it seems that I have played one of the greatest action game ever made but at the same time the worst RPG wannabe of the decade, this is an amazing game that everyone should play but I don't think it should bare the Final Fantasy name onto it.

Before everyone gets angry at the usual "It's not a final fantasy game" discourse, let me explain my line of thoughts.
What people usually say about the "It's not final fantasy" thing is usually about the graphics, I remember when this game got announced and people compared it to Elden Ring due to the fantastic medieval setting with a darker tone, but I'm here to talk about the RPG elements that make a Final Fantasy game in the first place and how they tried but unfortunately failed at making it work in this title.

Alright, so something we all noticed was how the gameplay felt exactly like something in-between modern and old God of War mixed with Devil May Cry. This, this is the greatest mix of inspiration sources you can get when you want to make a good Action game and by god, they pulled it out- they made one of the greatest action game ever made but it feels like they realized after making the combat that they had to add levels and stats to make it like "Final Fantasy".
Unfortunately, in this case, it didn't work out quite well, by playing the game you can notice how useless the level are, you could be killing a level 10 enemy or a level 20 enemy they all feel the exact same damage sponges that are really fun to kill, so that makes me wonder why they bothered with the leveling system if at the end of the day it just feels like I'm playing God of War 3, killing the enemies placed in front of me.
Next up would be the armor and weapon upgrades, these feel like soulless ripoffs of the crafting system in God of War 4 and 5 which already were soulless fake RPG ripoff of other game with useless crafting mechanism which turns this topic into an endless rabbit hole of modern game design where everyone tries to do the same thing because they want to appeal to everyone but who the fuck is the person that needs crafting mechanism in every game.
And who says crafting also says useless crafting items, of course, this game is filled with junk that you collect by opening wooden boxes in the wild or by completing quests and enemy encounters but again, same as modern God of War, we don't care! Who is happy to gain 3 wooden thingamajigs to craft the sword of the holy whatever just to get +2 attack, why not just let the player purchase the swords in the stores or by doing side quests or rewarding extra dungeons instead of making fake crafting mechanism! Final Fantasy 1 did exactly what I said, making armor and weapon only available in stores or by finding them in dungeons, and you know who else did it too? Final Fantasy 2, and 3, and 4, and 5, and so on! Square Enix, you keep making wonderful experiences but why do you want to stay at this dirty low level of self-esteem when making a game, why do you want to appeal to every customer, and why do you think that every normal people wants crafting mechanism in Final Fantasy 16, if anything the video game market for normal people doesn't care about what's in a game they just play what they buy and that's it, they have no opinion on the matter and you should make games like you used to! I hate being the "old good new bad" but SQEX really needs to look back at what they previously made and learn from what they created.

Now that I've tackled the worst part of modern video games, I'll go over my second main issue about the game. This issue is based on the mission structure and overall pacing of the game by our new producer, Yoshi P.
Alright, so I doubt that I'm the only one that felt like most quests that were not dungeons resolved to "go to one point of the map, talk to an NPC, kill X enemy and go back to said NPC" exactly like if you were playing a slow MMORPG, an MMORPG like Final Fantasy XIV, that was directed by Yoshi P... Yeah, that makes much more sense now.
So yeah, Final Fantasy 16 has this awkward mix of quest design in the likes of an MMORPG and in my opinion, is the worst part of the game and what really keeps this game out of being the perfect action game. It's just impossible to care about what happens during most of these quests, the on-foot walk speed is just boring, you can't even run in town areas, and going back and forth every 10 minutes get really annoying, it really just feels like these quests were made to be filler so that Final Fantasy 16 get that 40 hours+ lengths on how long to beat to make them say "This is a Final Fantasy game because it's unnecessarily long!"

Sometimes it's just better to cut the fat and even though it might make the game shorter it will just be better in the long run because imagine if DMC or God of War did that too, I can't imagine playing God of War 3 and just suddenly being forced into talking with NPCs, ruining the pacing of that sweet god-killing action just because they wanted the game to be 30 hours long and not 10. (Ironically speaking this is what they did for God of War 4 and 5, lol.)
The same could be said about Bayonetta or Devil May Cry, people love these games because they let you straight into the action, you don't need filler to make the experience longer, and you don't want the player to feel bored because they made the game so fun to play that the filler moment really highlight themselves and makes you think "What the fuck am I doing here" and you just want to go back to that sweet feeling you get from those delightfully crafted boss fights and dungeons.

That's it, I'm done complaining, this wasn't really a full review of the game and more like a highlight of what the game failed to do and how they could improve it if they want to continue this type of gameplay for the next entry.
I wish this game was a standalone game and not the Final Fantasy 16 that I was waiting for, it's definitely one of the greatest action games I've played, but it's not what I wanted out of my final fantasy.
So thanks? Yoshi P, but I wish you would keep your MMORPG gimmicks in your game and avoid spreading them in other media.

This game is the Scott Pilgrim of 2020~ for women.

This game takes the idea of a dating sim and adds some flashy color that appeals to a Western audience and makes it look like it's something brand new.
This game is quite funny because dating/raising sims from Japan are usually considered as something bad in the West, many parodies of dating sims were released in the West like that one Normal Boots game with Projared or that KFC visual novel, but this one received no hate since the translation didn't just translate the text, it's a full-on localization to make it seem like a game made in the west, and for the longest time I thought it was a western game. I'd like to give credit to the translation team for making this game seem seamless without letting a single Japanese oddity get in the way, there's not a single reference to some cultural Japanese thing or anything which is a far cry from the literal translation that sure tries to go for what the original writer had in mind but ends up being weird and actually doesn't really works in the English language.

This game reminds me a lot of Princess Maker which is a game about raising a little girl into becoming a grown and proper princess, the game pretty much works the same with the stress, activities, and skill points based on the activities you allow her to do during the day. Unlike Needy Streamer Overload this game happens in a Western medieval setting which is expected considering we are raising a princess, but what perplexes me is why isn't that game getting as much popularity as this one. It might be because the games are a bit dated, or maybe because they feel too "Japanese".
From what I've noticed people seem to like Needy Streamer Overload because of the art style and character, people don't really care about the gameplay, they just care about the quirky girl and the setting she is placed in and how she behaves making people wanting to be her or relating to her. I think it's a shame that the gameplay is overlooked simply because of the personality, if people cared about the gameplay then they'd also care about the Princess Maker franchise.
Thinking more and more about this, another franchise suffered a similar fate, this franchise is "Idolm@ster". It's a widely known franchise in Japan, and especially during its heyday which was when the franchise ditched the raising sim aspect of the franchise which was utilized in the early games from 2007 to 2014, and now mostly just focuses on mobile games that have no raising aspects, even the later console games stopped being about raising idols and mostly just about rhythm gameplay, it's not always a bad thing as the Idolm@ster raising gameplay was a bit rough at times but you can see that most people cared about the girls themselves rather than the gameplay, and princess maker having no redeeming iconic girls or anything else that could let the franchise live past it's raising sim age. So I wouldn't be surprised if the creator of the game would pick up the art style of the game with its character and just put it in something else as if it never was about raising in the first place, I might be thinking about this too deeply but I doubt I'm far from being wrong.

Other than me ranting about game localization, women, and the death of raising sims, is this game any good? It is quite entertaining to play, similar to how Princess Maker did it it's some sort of playground where you mix and match combinations of actions to get different endings, getting all ending without a guide is obviously a chore as a tradition for raising/dating sims but it's really easy to get enjoyment out of this game. The English translation can get a bit on the nerves with how cringe-inducing it can get but honestly, it's mostly just cringe with how realistic some dialogue is, it really feels like you are talking to a woman using Twitter, right oomfie?

Now that's a game that will set the standard for the whole 2D platformer genre...

I'm honestly speechless, I have literally no complaints about this game, this is the perfect platformer game that was released in 1990 and that's really, really impressive. I did not grow up with Super Mario World so I don't have any biased childhood memories of it, and three decades later this game still hits like a truck it's just excellent, and for the first time, it made me want to ask for more in a 2D Mario game. The modern 2D Mario games are not bad games by any means but it just never makes you want to ask for more, it's just too basic and it doesn't stand out at all and yada yada, you already heard a billion times why the New Super Mario Bros franchise is boring.

I have nothing but respect for this game which just made me want to play more and also made me want to uncover all of its secret paths to play brand-new secret stages because you just never have enough of Super Mario World. The physics aged pretty well, even compared to Mario Maker which obviously plays way better but it's not like when you compare Super Mario Bros on the NES to its counterpart in Mario Maker, it feels like night and day with how Mario feels.

The whole game is perfectly balanced in a way where it never feels hard but it's not extremely easy like the New Super Mario Bros games, and anyway, it's pretty easy to get 1-Ups.
I guess the only stages I would call unfair or hard would be the castle of Roy's which starts with a really long and boring snake block section and whenever you die past that part you have to do it all over again! The same can be found in Lenny's castle which features the same intro with an even longer snake block section. You also have the average auto-scroller stage which can be a slog at times but it's not that bad, the levels themselves aren't bad it's just the whole auto-scroller trope that sucks.

This is a wonderful little game and I honestly wish everyone could get a chance to try it out.
