gameplay is dated, but the story is great. it's very simplistic but it gets its point across well, and i'd say its message is still significant to this day.

great atmosphere and gameplay. controls were a bit clunky but once you get used to it you'll be fine. i'm not entirely sure what i was supposed to take away from the story, but it was interesting nonetheless.

adds a ton of cool mechanics and all of them are used well, story is great, not much else i can say. play it.

2009

manages to perfectly recreate the wondrous magic of yume nikki while also having its own original ideas that work with the style extremely well. would recommend if you like these types of games.

good vn. builds off the original quite a lot. i'd go as far as to say it's more or less an extension of it. it's one of the best depictions of mental illness i've seen probably ever and i think more stories, even ones outside of games, could learn from it.

an alright game with a decent gameplay premise. the spritework is pretty good and the music is alright as well. sometimes it creates this really interesting atmosphere but unfortunately it isn't something that's even in both routes. i can't really say i'd recommend you go to this unless you're already a big fan of the series that proceeded it though.

an acceptable half life expansion. it has its moments but it isn't anything too amazing. just like blue shift i would not recommend it to people who aren't super into these games. i doubt i'll replay this anytime soon.

a boring spin off of the original half life, more puzzle-focused but despite this none of the puzzles are challenging and only one was actually clever in my opinion. only worth playing if you are a huge half life fan.

2008

almost everything in this game works. the story and world are extremely interesting, the visuals while a little more simplistic then necessary do their job perfectly, the music is superb, and the atmosphere is great.

HOWEVER... the combat is extremely boring and if not for the cool battle visuals and good music i would hate the combat altogether. i REALLY wanted to give this game 5 stars and if it weren't for those flaws i absolutely would've.

while celeste didn't land nearly as well for me as it did for others, i see why so many hold it in high regard. it has great level design and a story that just about anyone can relate to, at least to some degree

2022

it's the same as the original but enhanced. everything looks better which sells the atmosphere more, there's a little in-game achievements thing, and it has general quality of life enhancements.

if you want to play ib, play it this way.

i played the first five days and let me say this, the game is good enough. i don't see myself replaying it anytime soon at all as the base mechanics are nothing too special, but the humor and simple dumb fun managed to keep me for it's whole base game. and even then some of the humor is in rather poor taste nowadays. i tried the saturday chapter but it failed to really interest me and i imagine i'll feel the same about sunday. and it doesn't help that i encountered a fair share of bugs on my way through.

tl;dr if the humor lands for you and you don't mind some horribly dated jokes and are willing to look past some bugs, then you'll love this. if it doesn't then there isn't really much for you.

an improvement over the original in every way. i know most people complain about the difficulty but personally i think it's fine. more often then not when i die in this game i feel like it was done due to my own recklessness.

amazing fast-paced gameplay combined with a killer soundtrack and a story that builds on the first game's foundation in every way.

a game not everyone will enjoy, but one i find deeply interesting and memorable. there's so many mysteries that can be interpreted in so many different ways

i kinda love this for some reason
