As impressive as Lies of P is for a Soulslike from an independent studio, one question remains for this kind of game: How much inspiration is okay until it becomes unoriginal?
Lies of P is essentially just Bloodborne down to the gameplay and the mechanics surrounding that, the narratives, the themes and motives, even the philosophical questions asked ("Is the purpose of life to become god or the dwell in blissflus ignorance").
The problem where the relevance of the question of inoriginality intensifies is that Lies of P is everything mentioned but worse than Bloodborne. The gameplay is punishing but at the same time very unprecise so that it becomes unfair, the narrative is way more plumbly delivered therefore doesn't carry the same weight. And all this comparison could have been avoided if Lies of P had been its own game with its own voice and ambition rather than a "Bloodborne with Pinocchio-characters"

Sadly this one is bloated to hell, but the incredible charm saves the game every single time the narrative cycle of "seek person 1 - person 1 is not there - seek other person that knows where person 1 is - person 2 doesnt know after all but knows last seen place of person 1 - seek person 1 again" begins again.
Also it really is time to let Kiryus story end. this is his 4th "last" story now and it really is starting to feel like the studio is not trusting Ichiban to carry a saga alone (which he totally can)

Slightly expanded sequel to the first game, where the overall product is fantastic again, but the story unfortunately cant manage two main characters as in depth as it wants to or pretends to, especially not with the length it has. Short and concise games are good, but not if you want to make as expansive and grand of a story as Insomniac is trying here. Peter Parker is a paper thin character in the entire story except the ending, and Miles Morales has so much more to tell but gets shoved into the background whenever he is in the spotlight for a few minutes.
Also combat pacing is still very sloggish and way too long.
