Overall, I thought this game was decent. While it did get somewhat tedious by the end...and I didn't really think it did anything too too special, it had some cool aspects.

The combat is fun but nothing amazing imo. What elevated it a bit tho were the weapons. Obviously the Plasma Cutter is really cool, love the mechanic of cutting off enemies limbs. However the real MVP was the The Ripper, that thing destroyed almost every enemy. Especially after I filled in every power node. The other weapons for the most part were cool too, I liked how they weren't just your generic weapon types. I also really like how your health UI is just built into the suit. Comes across as really natural and unintrusive. The final boss and ending I quite enjoyed as well.

However, as I stated...it did get tedious by the end. Going from level to level, doing simple tasks and then going back to the start of the stage. Idk man, I think it would have been cooler if the whole game was interconnected and you had to explore the space station like Resident Evil or something. The space setting is cool I guess (especially with the zero gravity sections tho they can be a bit disorienting at times) but I wish they did more with it because 90% of the time you're going through hallways that look and feel the same. Whenever they switch it up it's cool, just wish they did it more. Another thing is, I really didn't find this game scary personally. The only time I got spooked, and it was a jumpscare, was the ending. Otherwise, yeah didn't find it that unnerving. I also honestly didn't care about the story at all. The ending again was cool with the scenes that played out, otherwise the story was just there.

Yeah, the game does do some really cool things I feel but also never blew me away and was a bit tedious by the end, tho I'd say I enjoyed it overall. Next on the agenda is my Symphony of the Night replay and Silent Hill. Hoping I'm able to fit those in before Mario Wonder comes out!

The best game on the Nintendo 3DS period. The story itself is nothing too special but it's held up by an extremely memorable cast of characters, amazing and funny dialogue, sweet rail shooter and action gameplay, and the banger soundtrack is the cherry on top.

The only real downside to this game is that it discriminates against left-handed people and if you're one of these people, i'm so sorry.

Disappointing after Mutant Mudds. Not really a bad game per se, but it comes across as not-quite-finished when there's literally only one boss with extra attacks/abilities added on for each of its 7 iterations. It's most difficult right at the beginning. Checkpoint placement is not great. Its weapon charging system is pretty neat but it seemed to me that a couple of the options were nearly useless (but the others were all great to mix and match). Decent environments and pretty fun level design for as short as it is. If you enjoyed Mutant Mudds and wouldn't mind some challenge, give this a shot and it'll entertain you for a few hours. Otherwise, just go find some other Metroidvania to play.

It is really fun and charming but WOW it gets repetitive. I never finished it because I felt like nothing was changing the whole time.

Funny, with a bit of a Rhythm Heaven / Warioware vibe to the cutscenes, but the puzzle element doesn't quite work and you just end up frantically mashing. Still enjoyable, but I never felt like I was playing it properly.

Its fast pace and difficulty make it a lot more enjoyable than the first game, in spite of a lot of frustrating design choices.

A very short (about 1 hour and 20 minutes in length) low budget linear detective visual novel directed by Taisuke Kanasaki who is better known for directing Hotel Dusk and Another Code/Trace Memory, both games which I had a good time going through. A story about an arson case being reopened under the tip of an unknown caller being a possible murder and investigated by two misfits of the detective agency. Nanase is the stone cold grizzled detective while his partner Amekura is the lively youngster, pretty much the usual suspects you'll see in any law enforcement show. While seemingly cliche, they are written well enough to have engaging conversations with each other to keep you entertained.

Gameplay wise you can tell there was not much of a budget to work with (explains the $5 price tag) as the entire game takes place in either the interrogation room or your office. When you're not listening to Nanase and Amekura banter you're interrogating possible suspects in a Phoenix Wright sort of way. At times you'll have to present a statement and if it's wrong you'll lose some health. The answers are always really easy and nothing that'll make you think hard. It leaves much to be desired but what carries the game is the story. In such a sort length the plot flows as good as it can and keeps you wanting more as you learn about how everything transpired. For fans of Hotel Dusk you'll feel right at home with the sort of dialogue and music throughout the game (Same Composer too). There is only about 6 tracks in the game and none of them get overplayed to an extent and are memorable tunes especially the one that plays at the reveal of the killer.

Sadly what really holds the game back besides the lack of areas and interactivity is how much it tries to set up a continuation. There's a lot of things that the game doesn't explain such as Nanase's supposedly deeper involvement in the case. This game feels like its a pilot episode of a detective show. It ends abruptly on a huge cliff hanger that would've set up an entire full release game. From the looks of it that'll never happen as this was Kanasaki's last game as of 2016. Nowadays he doesn't seem to be involved in anything outside of this art for Guilty Gear Strive he did a couple months ago https://preview.redd.it/hwghm2addv171.jpg?width=841&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=753bc9ecf43d920a76725c84d9bbe808c781e95f

I do wish these characters and story line could continue in some form in the future.

The game that tried its best to actually be like Star Fox 64. Sadly, all levels were all-range mode so it was too repetitive. Also the story sucked and there was too much weird relationship drama.

I think two and half stars is as much as I can give for atmosphere and style. I LOVE this game artistically. The soundtrack, the art, the setting, the characters are immaculate. However, what they do with the above is… just not fun or interesting. Walk around a rundown motel doing menial tasks for strangers with a clunky and uncomfortable control scheme for 15+ hours. Some of these menial tasks are endearing, like decorating a Christmas tree in spite of Hyde’s cold, sad facade. Others are not. Really? I have to find your fucking wine bottle? Who the fuck cares? Why am I doing chores in a video game? These unfun, un-plot relevant tasks bog down the game like crazy. The payoff of these are confrontation scenes at the end of each chapter where you learn a bit more about each stranger. They’re good. They don’t make up for the other 80% of the game being slow and pointless, but they showcase some brilliant characters and seeing Hyde help them is heartwarming. The main plot is also just okay. I appreciate the theme of loss and seeing how almost every character deals with it in their own way, but I just dislike how we really only learn about the central conflict in any meaningful way in the beginning and the very end, and it’s still somewhat disappointing in the end after all you have to do. Overall, the game is worth playing if you’re into this genre. I love the atmosphere so much that I can’t say I dislike this game. But just be ready for a bit of a slog.

Cool twist on the original expectations of the pokemon series and certainly not the game I expected to be playing when I was 10

Interesting idea and mechanics absolutely marred by execution. The fighting mechanics themselves are fine I guess, probably more so with friends but the single player campaign is a massive slog. It's the same type of fights over and over and over again and there's no variation anywhere to be seen. No interesting challenges with different stipulations, no boss fights except for one, just the same 3 round fights on loop. What's worse is that the AI is so immensely frustrating that you basically have to cheese them by using a special move they're unable to block over and over again and then switching to another that they cannot block, because otherwise fighting them normally reveals they just block everything thrown your way. This was practically the only way to kill anything in the campaign mode, and the Emerl customization is kinda cool but could've been fleshed out way more.

Great story, unique design with beautiful presentation and fun gameplay make Sonic Battle one of my favorite modern handheld Sonic games, its only real flaws being balancing issues and a lack of variety in the structure of combat sequences throughout the story mode. For those who wouldn't consider these flaws a dealbreaker though and are fine with the game feeling somewhat repetitive, what you have is what I'd consider a more than worthwhile Sonic game, especially when played after SA2 and/or before Advance 3 so it feels even more impactful. I cannot recommend it enough, it's worth it for the story and character interactions alone because it provides such a great balance of fun and heartfelt moments that any Sonic fan would appreciate.
