After 224 hours of play time, I finally got the platinum. Easily the most rewarding platinum I’ve ever had and was worth it. This is my 2nd favorite game of all time after Xenogears. Part 3 can’t come fast enough.

Replayed the entire OG FF VII before Rebirth and I must say, the game was a classic then, and still is now. I am still amazed how they expanded Midgar in the remake but am even MORE curious on how they can expand the rest of disc 1 ending in the iconic moments in video game history.

One of the best side scrollers I’ve ever played. Hollow Knight got destroyed.

As a proof of concept: I loved everything about it but the actual story. With better writing, more mature, and subtle storytelling the franchise is known for; then Silent Hill 2 remake and especially F will be incredible.

Before there was even a Kingdom Hearts, there was Super Mario RPG, a game that shouldn’t had worked but it did. I missed out on the original release on the SNES, but after playing the remake I now understand why this legendary RPG stood the test of time.

The send off to the legendary western Zemuria arc will forever be remembered as one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve had in my lifetime. If you have been here since the beginning (Trails in the Sky arc) you will absolutely not be disappointed. Definitely a top 5 Trails experience and I cannot WAIT until Trails through Daybreak!

This dlc has made me feel many things:

1. How much I actually missed the Greek mythology of the OG trilogy, I’ve always preferred this over the current Norse subject matter.

2. How great the combat actually is in this game, the roguelike structure of Valhalla actually magnifies this.

If we get anything like this in the next set of games in the next mythology, I’d like to keep magnifying the combat while retaining the character moments and dialing up the epic moments of the old trilogy.

This was a nice appetizer of a dlc that was just solid enough to warrant $10 USD. The hype for Rising Tide cannot be understated, and will be anticipating the ultimate conclusion of Clive and Co’s story.

This is pretty much going to be my updated thoughts of the base game (which I gave a perfect score on when it got the next-gen update) so please bear with me here.

Cyberpunk 2077 (including Phantom Liberty) is my favorite CDPR game ever made. The complete vision of this world is finally portrayed with enough plot twists, great writing, world building, and characterizations of this distant dystopian future. If the sequel only builds on the foundation of the game, then we may be looking at the start of an all time great franchise in the role playing genre.

With Balder’s Gate 3 and now the fully complete version of Cyberpunk 2077, along with the next Witcher game, the future of western role playing games is extremely bright.

Not a perfect game by any means, but what this game sets out to do, it exceeded even my own expectations. The symbiote storyline was done masterfully and Peter Parker’s story was a true highlight in the superhero genre in any form of media. My only concern is how they plan to implement a less interesting character in Miles that has not convinced me that he has gone through enough for make me care about him becoming the main Spider-Man. Hopefully the next game will make his character arc more interesting going forward.

Regardless, an incredible game by Insomniac which continues to raise the bar in cinematic superhero storytelling and the wait for Wolverine is going to be excruciating.

Not the biggest 2D Mario fan (into the 3D games way more) but I feel as though this was a game Nintendo really put their creative chops on how to make 2D Mario as interesting as possible. My biggest gripe was there were not ENOUGH creative levels and the most creative were few far in between. Having said that, this was such a high quality Mario game in general that the pros outweigh the cons and this comes highly recommended to anyone that is a fan of platformers or Mario.

2014

One of the scariest experiences of all time. This could have been the Silent Hill fans had been clamoring for, but we will never know unless Kojima and Konami would squash their beef.

One of the worst games of all time and a spit in the face of those that created the Mass Effect universe. BioWare until this day has never recovered and it is do or die for BioWare as a company in their next big Mass Effect game.

The fact this is not nominated in any category in the 2023 Game Awards is the most egregious omission possible. When it comes to modern retro jrpgs, there isn’t a better game than this. Sea of Stars who?
