John Romero's Daikatana by John Romero

This is for games where they put the director's/writers name so front and centre either on box art or titles you can't miss it.

This list started from In Rays of the Light as the creators name was just everywhere in the description.

Don't forget A Hideo Kojima Game Death Stranding

@NoHonino_Hank - Thanks, that's a much more obvious example than the Metal Gear series. I'll change it.

@rentheunclean & @Drax - Thanks guys, I hadn't heard of either of those. Added!

Aerial_Knight's Never Yield
Any Tom Clancy Game
Clive Barker's Jericho
Ezekial S. Jackson's Amazing Truckology (I'm gonna submit this one to IGDB, it's not on the site yet)
Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds

How many Sid Meier games would you allow? Beyond all the other Civilization games, there's Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

Oh! And this one actually has Steven Spielberg in it

Ah yes, I heard that's the one where John Romero makes you his girlfriend. Also, I'm surprised more Hideo Kojima games aren't on this list. Seems like the kind of thing that would be right up his alley lol.

@thealexmott - You doubled my list overnight lol!

Aerial_Knight is his handle rather than name but I think the fact it's stapled brazenly in the title more than qualifies. I was aiming more for developer's rather than names on former written works so I'm not really sure Tom Clancy/Clive barker/Ken follet/James Cameron games qualify? Interested in people's thought's on this.

I'm thinking one per series which is why I stuck only one Civilization title just to make a point and Pirates, I'll add alpha Centuri as it was a spin off.

@Dreamboat - thanks, that's on the list!

@The quietGamer - Originally I named this list after him but I haven't played a game of his since MGS4 as i'm not a fan so couldn't recall exactly how prevalent his name was splashed in the opening credits. I'll add MGS2 on there to represent unless anyone can update me otherwise.

@Dreamboat - Oh wow Mercury! I'd forgotten about that game! Good call! I'll add these thanks!

Man you have so many good lists hahaha. I'll just politely look the other way while you correct the obvious oversight that is the cultural touchstone known as Russell Grant's Astrology...

@cowboyjosh - My intention for this one was more game developers than games made about celebrates or written works. Maybe I should start another list for those
🤔🤣

That makes total sense! I do feel like Sam Barlow deserves to be on this list due to how every other review of his games seem weirdly preoccupied with him. I dunno if he fits as well because it's not clear to me if he's particularly inviting this association.

8 months ago

@cowboyjosh - I was thinking more covers, opening / end credits where the director or writers name is plastered everywhere.

I do need to curate this list a bit when I have time to check others suggestions I added so I'll add Her story on until I've played it 👍🏻

The newest version of Deathtrap Dungeon might fit the bill considering Ian Livingstone's name is pasted right onto the IGDB cover art.

A few more Sid Meier games which are their own series, but I understand not wanting him to dominate the list (probably needs its own honestly, the amount of games his name is on is unhealthy)

Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon
Sid Meier's Colonization
Sid Meier's Gettysburg!
Sid Meier's SimGolf
Sid Meier's Ace Patrol
Sid Meier's Starships

Outside of Sid, I was wondering if PUBG fits - used to be PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds but the usage has fallen away with time.

@Jamesbuc - That's a good seemingly obscure one! Added!

@Drax - That seems to fit thanks!

@Tangysphere - I thought that but I've added a couple more for the man, myth and legend that is Sid Meier!

Player unknown is more of a handle than his name right? I'm less keen on adding those 🤔

8 months ago

@Drax that's fair enough, yeah it's a handle rather than name.

I did have another suggestion though - David Crane's The Rescue of Princess Blobette. The original A Boy and His Blob has his name on most boxez I've seen outside of IGDB but it's front and centre on the 'sequel'

@ Tangsphere - I don't think you meant to tag Drax there lol. That's a great one! Added it, thanks for the suggestions! :)
