Fun for what it is (a free game that doesn't paywall much)

I no longer have the patience to force myself to finish a game if I'm not enjoying it. This feels so janky, and the level design is terrible. All the textures look muddy, and there's no clear indication of what is intractable and grab-able, making it frustrating to figure out what I should be doing.

On top of that, everything is so jittery and imprecise and unpolished. The first game got a pass for those imperfections because it was the first game in a new franchise and it's always a struggle to get things off the ground, but what excuse does Jedi Survivor have?

Tie the bow with a boring protagonist and a milked universe, and you get a pretty bad game. Wont be finishing this.

I grew up with this art style and was really happy to see a newer game pay homage to it. You can tell it comes from a place of love and respect for PS1/N64 games. Somehow the dev has also successfully captured the "feeling" of such a game, with the hollowed out sound, and reigned-in color palette.

What I find most fascinating about this game is how its gameplay looks kinda janky and old, making it feel like a late-90s/early-00s game, but it actually plays very tightly. The movement is precise and deliberate, and the platforming is truly some of the best I've played in a 3D game.

Unfortunately, the lack of a map coupled with my poor memory means I'm never going to finish this. For $6 though, I'm glad I tried it out

Very typical blockbuster game. Cool set pieces and fantastic traversal, but the core gameplay loop (especially the combat) is the same as the first game. The open world is littered with boring fetch/combat quests, and the combat is extremely simplistic to the point where I was scrolling through Reddit while fighting enemies. This sequel feels like it's trapped in the past, but updated for the PS5 to get things like instant loading, fast travel, and higher object density (all of which are incredible and should be acknowledged as technical achievements).

I don't have too much to say about the story except that superhero stories in a post-spiderverse world feel kinda same-y. There's still fun to be had in a Venom storyline but the superhero genre is in desperate need of a new formula.

I had a decent time with this game overall, and enjoyed the second half way more than the first, but I can't help but feel pretty disappointed that this didn't learn anything from all the games that came after Spider-Man (2018). The traversal is constantly fun though, and this version of NYC feels so alive and rich, I know I'll be booting this up whenever I need to de-stress for a bit. I just wish there was more to it.

I love that this is heavily inspired from Max Payne (one of favorite games of all time), but maybe copying the gameplay of a 20+ year old game is not the best idea

This just didn't do it for me, which is unfortunate because I love Doom Eternal and replayed it just to prep for this. The DLC leans too heavily on just throwing more enemies at you more frequently, instead of adding something new to the level design. The new enemy types are extremely annoying - when the combat is this fast paced, I don't want to slow down to aim at an eyeball, or roleplay as a ghostbuster with the spirit. I had the same complaint with marauders in the base game - they hurt the flow of the game by forcing you to slow down and also just use 1-2 specific weapons.

I don't think I'll be playing Part Two.

Thought it would be a chore to replay this so I can play the DLC... but I was wrong

Yeah not my thing but I somehow have 80+ hours on CS: GO from the old days...

I put this off for so long and now I regret it! This is exactly the sort of "pick up and play a round during lunch" game I was looking for. Nothing will ever be as good as AoE2 but this comes pretty close!

Edit: I kept playing and now have over a 100 hours logged into this. Having a great time

I spent 40 hours on this within 2 weeks...

This obviously still plays like a PSP game, but the combat has aged well and the visuals look fantastic. It felt great revisiting iconic locations and messing around with the materia system again.

A great blueprint for modern remasters.

Once every few years, there's a game that completely takes over my life. Its all I can think about, its all I want to give my time to. This year, Tears of the Kingdom was the closest thing to that, until Baldurs Gate 3. I expected a great game, sure, especially after Divinity: OS 2, but this was something else.

I don't think BG3 does anything "new", but it dials up everything we know about RPGs by 100x. The bar has never been higher. I have never felt more immersed in a world and its inhabitants, never felt like my decisions actually mattered in the end, never experienced true freedom of choice, than in Baldurs Gate 3. I am in awe of what this game has achieved and the depth contained in this one adventure. I can't wait for an enhanced edition or expansion so I can experience it all over again.

I'm too scared but wanted to try it out before watching a 90 min lore video on YouTube

Had to read stuff about the plot to fully comprehend it, but this was so much fun as an experience! I'd put Sam Barlow right up there with Lucas Pope as the two people with the most innovative ideas in gaming
