Games I played in 2024

List of games I played for the first time in 2024 (in order of completion, some replays included as well)

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
[January]
This game was pretty good, but the amount of backtracking in this game starts to feel like unnecessary padding and the shrinking mechanic is very slow and tedious in some areas
20 Minutes Till Dawn
20 Minutes Till Dawn
[January]
This game is very addicting and a great time waster
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario RPG
[January]
This game was a great time, I totally get why its so highly praised
Persona 3 Reload
Persona 3 Reload
[February - May]
Im taking my sweet ass time with this game, I'm not spending a half a year just playing this like Persona 5. Anyways the music is amazing as always 10/10 in that department. End thoughts, so I started playing more consistently in May and got really invested in it. But man... that ending really hurts, I feel so awful. Maybe the DLC with give some answers
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic 3D Blast
[February]
This was surprisingly fun, and not as bad as i was expecting. But it suffers from a common issue of the difficulty suddenly ramping up to 100 near the end. That was not so cool
Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain
Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain
[February]
Short but sweet like a strawberry. Its just as adorable and challenging as the original. The controls took some time for me to get used to, but once I did it was a blast from start to finish.
Palworld
Palworld
[February]
Not as bad as I was expecting tbh
Rayman Origins
Rayman Origins
[February] (Replay)
This game was one of my childhood favorites, and after replaying it years later I can safely say this game is still one of my top favorites of all time. The music, graphics, gameplay 👌 10/10 chef's kiss. (Also I somehow beat the Land of the Livid Dead in less than 15 minutes, childhood me would be proud)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
[February] (Replay)
This is the first Zelda game I ever played. When I first played it I originally was just going to try it out for a little bit, little did I know that it would become one of my favorite games ever. And replaying it years later after getting more and more into the series, I can strongly say that this game is still one of the best, it truly is incredible. And 5 years later it's become my favorite game of all time 10/10
Return to Grace
Return to Grace
[February 25th]
A nice short game that can be completed in one sitting. The story kept me entertained and I was constantly searching for more things to interact with. I didn't find everything but I enjoyed what I played and am satisfied with the outcome. There isn't much to the gameplay, mostly just walking and a few short puzzles but if your interested in story based games then please give this game a try. ★★★★★
Splatoon 3: Side Order
Splatoon 3: Side Order
[February]
Not my favorite campaign but it's still pretty fun for what it is. Decent story, and solid challenges. The replayability is where the DLC shines
Baldi's Basics Plus
Baldi's Basics Plus
[February]
No matter how many times I play Baldi's Basics, whenever they update it and add something new and I don't know about it, I get absolutely terrified
Pokémon Unite
Pokémon Unite
[February]
I held off on playing this because it looked pretty bland to me, but after getting interested in it from a YouTube video, I finally gave it a shot and damn is it addicting. It just feels good to play and especially to win
A Short Hike
A Short Hike
[March 6th]
That was not a short hike..
I ended up reaching the top in the first 2 hours, but then I decided to 100% the game and finished with a total of 7 hours of playtime. Also screw those fish
Rounds
Rounds
[March]
A great game to play with a friend. So now that I've played it once I'll never touch it again because I'm alone
Lethal Company
Lethal Company
[March]
Very fun with friends, a little hard with only 2 people but I suppose that's to be expected. I hope they add an update that lets you change the rules, because there are some balancing issues
Toem
Toem
[March]
I love taking pictures in this game and giving them stupid titles
Yakuza Kiwami
Yakuza Kiwami
[March - April]
Gameplay is kinda fun, battles are decent enough, and the story has been keeping me interested so far. But whats the deal with that Majima guy, what the heck is his problem? Now that I've beaten it, I have to say it was pretty fun, the story was good too. I might have to play some of the other games eventually. But I'll leave that for another time
Superliminal
Superliminal
[March]
My brain hurts
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts
[March]
I didn't understand much about Kingdom Hearts story going in, and after 20 hours of playtime and completing the game I feel even more lost. The game was pretty fun, I hated the backtracking and certain bosses really sucked, but I thought it was pretty good overall. The story is still as confusing as I expected but it's interesting. Also I unintentionally beat the game on it's 22nd Anniversary: March 28th 2024
Pepper Grinder
Pepper Grinder
[March]
The drill feels so fun to use. The levels are fun, but the bosses can go die in a hole that I've drilled for them... And shortly after this game became one of the most boring and frustrating games I've ever played. I'm never touching this game again. Waste of money
Penny's Big Breakaway
Penny's Big Breakaway
[March]
This game already feels amazing to play and it hasn't even been an hour yet. Unfortunately it got very boring very fast. The level design never felt like it expanded past the first world and barely anything new was introduced. I was patiently waiting for something new and challenging but before I knew it, it was over. I'm honestly pretty disappointed. I don't see myself ever replying any of the levels because they were all so boring. It sucks because the control scheme is so fun but it never goes anywhere. Also I clipped through the wall more times than I can count. 6/10 not worth it at all
Splatoon 2
Splatoon 2
[April]
Played this for a video, so far I've just played Turf War which was pretty fun. I bought this because I heard Octo Expansion is the best campaign, so I'm pretty excited to play that soon. I've played a bit more and got to Salmon Run, and yeah it's pretty fun. It still feels a bit off to play but that's just cause I've played a lot of 3
Pikmin 4
Pikmin 4
[Played in late 2023 - April 2024]
Everytime a Pikmin dies a part of me dies inside. Anyways the game is pretty fun, a great game to hop on every now and then. That final boss was bullshit btw
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion
[April]
I really did like this at first, but after playing for a few hours i soon came to realize what this really was. This is nothing like Alterna from Splatoon 3. All this is, is a bunch of challenges that get harder and harder as you progress. To be honest I got really bored with this, it wasn't even fun anymore, but I still beat it I guess.
Pokémon Scarlet
Pokémon Scarlet
[Played in late 2023 - May 2nd 2024]
This game is really fun so far, it's not perfect by any means but I'm having a good time either way. I liked the part where they made sandwiches 🥪
Ending thoughts: This is one of my new favorite games ever. I had a smile on my face the whole way. I'm so sad it's over.. Except there is still the DLC so..
The Adventure Continues!
Kingdom Hearts II
Kingdom Hearts II
[May]
Pretty good so far. I like that the maps are smaller, and that you spend less time in each world. It makes it so I don't have to worry about getting lost unlike the first game. No more situations like with Traverse Town, or Hollow Bastion. So far I'm not having trouble with bosses as much either. I'm not the best at it so I appreciate that it's not too challenging.. so far anyways. Ending Thoughts: Pretty good overall, definently the best in terms of gameplay so far. I thought the story was good, and enjoyed the mystery. Final boss was pretty lame and also kinda bullshit in terms of difficulty. I'm looking forward to playing KH 3. After I watch the cutscenes from previous games anyways..
Kingdom Hearts III
Kingdom Hearts III
[May]
I'm really enjoying it so far! I like the change to the combat where after doing an Air Combo, instead of falling like usual you can keep attacking in the air and reach multiple enemies. The Story is keeping me interested as well, I like the moments Sora and his friends have with the characters from each world. I had a dumbass smile on my face during a few moments. And if 100 Acre Woods returns in this game, I can't wait to reunite Sora with Winnie-the-Pooh once again. End thoughts: This was a really fun game. The Story was great, the world's were almost all fun.. except for Toy Story. It did a good job in keeping me invested especially during the endgame. Everything was so emotional and I loved it, I'm so happy everyone was reunited. I definitely was missing a bit of context because I only watched a short plot synopsis for Days, BBS & DDD, but I still understood what was happening. Maybe I'll play those someday? Well I guess now all that's left is to wait for Kingdom Hearts 4
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
[May]
I haven't gotten very far yet. I'm only just past the starting area. But yeah its Breath of the Wild, I already know it's amazing. And since I've played Tears of the Kingdom I have experience this time. I don't expect much to change in terms of my skill level though lol
