I'd never played DQ1 on the GBC so thought I'd give it a shot. It's good! The GBC aesthetic perfectly suits early DQ so this was a fun time. Using the emulator's fastforward function makes grinding more tolerable so that's nice too.
Ran through this again for something light after binging RE4 Remake. It's insane that this is a free pack-in game, the quality and love in this is unreal. I didn't think Playstation nostalgia-pandering would work on me but it absolutely does.
Probably the weakest entry in the series, though I still liked it enough. If you loved the others, give it a shot, but if you're trying to decide which of these to pick up, I'd look at either of the other ones.
Improves on the first in pretty much every way. Combat is immaculate and the game balance can be broken in loads of creative and fun ways, and it's great to finally see the HD2D engine running on PS5 and free of the 720p/30fps shackles of the Switch. DQ3 in this engine is going to kill me
