I didn't know exactly what to expect from this other than that I knew it would be fairly short. I was surprised to discover as I played though, that it was a time-loop game. Which is cool I guess. Probably made it easier for the devs, to extend the game without needing more assets.

Mechanically, I found the fights to be more fun than the base game of Alan Wake. The nail gun proved to be a lot of fun and packed a punch. I didn't find the mechanics as engaging as the Alan Wake 1 DLCs though.

Having the whole thing wrapped up in an episode of Night Springs was fun as well. I don't know that I'll ever think about it again, but I had a decent enough time with it and I'm sure it'll add context for when I eventually get to Alan Wake II.

I came into this game expecting to love it, based on all the conversations around it when it came out. And I have to say that, while I enjoyed my time with it, I did not love it. I guess I kind of just thought there would be more to it than what it ended up being. Like more complexity.

It is really beautiful and elegant in its presentation. I really like the conceit and the basic structure of the puzzling, but it never really wowed me and I kept wait for there to be more. But then it was just over.

Which is probably a good thing actually. It didn't overstay its welcome.

I was a big fan of the Case of the Golden Idol and really enjoyed the first DLC. This one I was unaware of until recently and had to pick it up.

I breezed through it over the course of two days. Filling in the blanks is still a lot of fun. In the moment some stories here were not as compelling to me and weren't quite hanging together, but once I got through the final one and saw the whole picture, I thought it was quite clever. I really like the final reveal and it clears up a lot of what was puzzling me about the first two chapters of this installment.
