This is the first narrative that I've been able to get into in awhile. The characters are distinct and likeable in their own ways. The setting is very well done between the cars, city design and dialogue. A fantastic game that is not drawn out longer than it needs to be.

I don't know what else to say about this game besides that it's frantic, mindless fun with a satisfying progression system. Exciting to play the second one in the year of our lord and savior, 2021.

A decent point and click horror game with an ending that I wasn't 100% expecting. There are some narrative elements that are a real stretch. There is a fair amount of tedium that comes with this genre but the puzzles were clever, just difficult enough. The horror did not feel cheap or heavy handed.

A stupendous racing game that has ways to advance no matter what facet of the game you enjoy (creating liveries, perfect tunes, racing competitively, collecting cars). Really just the perfect game to pick up and play no matter the restraints on the session.

This is probably about as close as the series has come to reliving the perfection of 2006's Most Wanted. The variety of vehicles are fantastic, however, different driving conditions (drift/off road) seem to have been an afterthought. Story is short and interesting enough but nothing to write home about. Mechanics for the genre are spot on.

2015

I'm a huge proponent of player-made content. This is a beautiful, essentially free tool that lets you immerse yourself in whatever aspect of GTA you want + extras.

It's an interesting MOBA. I love that it's so accessible in terms of cost and mechanics. It didn't stick for me past really the first week that I played it.

This game has the most effective sound design I have ever experienced. Every scene and every interaction is given a distinct edge and discomfort - a complete echo of inhabiting a queer body in a heteronormative and predominantly Christian society. Very Good.

An interesting flavor of "Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes." However, some of the mechanics are not clearly communicated or very inventive. It feels a little hollow in terms of content but I think it's because there so many moving pieces. It's a great time with the right group of friends.

For a COD game, it does something interesting and fresh narratively in the campaign. Also one of the most satisfying shooter feedback systems in the whole series. A really solid title.

As far as trying to be an RPG this game is unsophisticated and mediocre. The boss mechanics are not complex or difficult and combat is basically just hold left click. HOWEVER, the building/crafting is very relaxing and the progression through the game feels like it's paced appropriately.

2D vegetable Zelda with nice puzzle progression and internet humor. Absolutely worth quite a few chuckles. Sort of a shallow critique of capitalism.

2017

Some of the most fluid, well-thought sports game mechanics I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The world feels full and the characters are rich and individualized. This game really challenges the ideas of victory and compassion through a narrative that is continually respected.

2016

Pretty amazing that this was the project of a solo dev. This game does a wonderful job creating a haunting and stark atmosphere. Its pacing and mechanics are very, intentionally slow. This would be a very competent post apocalyptic narrative if I didn't waste so much time tediously searching the environment for the next thing I was supposed to be doing.

It was a great experience to play Portal and Portal 2 back to back. Portal 2 has everything the first game had plus expanse. Expanse in the way of plot, mechanics and humor. A flawless puzzle game.
