I was fully on the "RE4 is perfect and doesn't need a remake" camp, and I maintain both those things are true. And yet the fact that Capcom made the best Capcom game ever made again and its still the best Capcom game ever made is nothing short of incredible. Gonna be tough to top this one this year.

It is crazy how effortlessly they managed to capture the feel of Wario Land 4 here, hell it might even surpass it. Just an insanely varied and fun platformer with lavish animation and a banger soundtrack. It's crazy polished and pretty much the perfect length, and the final boss sequence in particular really cemented this as a new favorite 2D platformer.
Only things I can knock it on are that because the visual style is so evenly applied across the entire game it can become hard to read the environment, especially in some of the visually busier levels (parts of the gnome forest (?) in particular felt like the worst of this). I also think that while Gustavo and Brick add even more fun variety to an already insanely varied game, they somewhat lack that anxious manic energy that really gives the entire game its identity and feel a bit out of place as a result.
But man, this game rocked.

I liked it a lot! Gameplay is definitely king here and I would love to see some of the things from this game come back in newer entries, I found it all really intuitive, challenging, and fun. The presentation is also a series best, accompanied by a soundtrack that goes way too hard.

That said, I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed the story! Sure, the broad strokes are basically the most rote plot possible, but what it does, it does with solid execution, a decent emotional core, and good performances, wrapping up with an excellent finale. Plus, despite some prerelease worries, I enjoyed most of the cast about as much as any other FE.

Maybe it's because I'm not ride or die for the series, but this is one of my new personal favorites.

This game has its fair share of issues and strange design choices, a (so far) middling story, plus it is shockingly unsubtle with its horror. All that said, I admire that they tried something different with its gameplay loop. The weird melee focus leading to punchout-lite bobbing and weaving with gun cancel combos feels immensely satisfying, if not particularly deep as far in as i got. It also has really nice production values, and I think the motion and facial capture in combination with the acting is enjoyable to behold. And I have to give a special shout-out: this game has some of the best Dualsense implementation I have experienced, with every small sound and action making a noticeably different ping on the controller; it was good enough to create yet another way to detect incoming threats I hadn't quite seen yet.
I'm not feeling it enough to play it til the end right now, but I definitely could certainly see myself coming back to it in the future.

Donut Dodo is a fantastic take on the classic Donkey Kong arcade game. Each level is different and unique, which keeps it fresh and challenging. The 2D sprite work is really well done. The controls are extremely responsive. The music is really well done as well.

Donut Dodo is perfect to take on the go and try and beat some of the highscores on the in-game leaderboard, because they are tough to beat. In order to progress in the game, you need to beat certain levels to unlock the next set of levels which become increasingly difficult.

Highly recommended, especially if you are fan of the arcade retro platformers.

This game made me a Metroid fan.

I really enjoyed it in the beginning, but it wore thin kinda quickly. Just kinda shallow and started to feel pretty samey.

One of the greatest match 3 games of all time imo. Each of the modes changes the formula up just enough to make them feel unique. The game still looks good 11 years later and the soundtrack is great and doesn't get annoying after playing for a while.

I recall reading somewhere that Treasure didn't like shoot em ups much and made Radiant Silvergun as their way of "fixing" something they didn't like. Would that more games were made that way. There is nothing else like this, not even its (equally but in many ways opposingly brilliant spiritual successor Ikaruga.) The apocalyptic final boss (BE PRAYING...) has never been equaled. I've never beaten this without freeplay and probably never will, but that does nothing to diminish the brilliance of this experience.

Its good (very good even) but the removal of the spin dash from the first game, its overly wordiness and weak final chapters mark it down a bit. Its a shame that there was never a third game in this style, but at the same time it casting a shadow over every game that game in the series that came out after is a real shame as many of them are doomed before they ever have a chance to show off something new.
