The story is amazing for an NES game but it's fairly basic by today's standards. I respect it for being one of the first adventure games but it has not held up at all.

Janky and with some very questionable design decisions, but I love it anyway.

Has aged surprisingly well. The physics are a bit clunky and the level design isn't really suited to Mario's movement towards the end. Nonetheless it still holds up and remains one of the best Mario games to date.

The best Mario game and a masterpiece worthy of anyone's time. It's essentially just more of Galaxy 1, but it's clear to see how things have been streamlined to flow more smoothly. The levels are a lot more snappy and to the point, and the sheer creativity on display here is some of the best the series has ever seen. In combination, these things lead to you beinf propelled between entirely new and engaging ideas every couple minutes. It's impossible to get tired of anything here because the game is just constantly coming up with something fresh, and this leads to it being impossible to put down.

The most fun Mario game to just mess around in.

Later Zelda games do a lot of individual aspects better but OOT is a great middle ground of consistently solid parts that make up a great product overall. Make sure to play the 3DS remake, the N64 version has aged very poorly. Alternatively just play the PC port because wow it is amazing.

Such an odd and unique entry in this series that feels so far removed from the elements that tie the other ones together, and that's exactly why I love it. The atmosphere of the whole thing is very melencholy and bleak while still being fun in a bizarre way.

My opinion is pretty much the complete opposite of the general consensus on this game. I think all of the dungeons are bad, not terrible but they're not fun at all. On the flip side, the overworld is amazing, one of the best in the series, and I absolutely adore exploring it. That being said traversal from island to island is a huge hassle in the Gamecube version and for that reason I'm leaving it at this score, go play the Wii U version instead or use a mod that adds the Swift Sail into this.

Significant improvement over the first game, though not without it's faults. After Oil Ocean the entire game goes through a noticeable decrease in quality, the level design, while great 90% of the time, occasionally seems to intentionally get in the way of the player's speed. In Sonic 1 and CD, this was usually done before a section that actually required the player to move slowly and more precisely, in Sonic 2 it's just done for no real reason.

First game I ever played, there's no way for me to look at it objectively.

Horrible gameplay and mediocre story.

Unfinished version of Never7 (only featuring the worst parts!)

Just the best parts of Never7, but without the bad parts the game loses something.

So bad it's good. If I were rating based on enjoyment I would give it 4 stars because I was laughing the entire time. There are some genuinely good aspects but it's impossible to take them seriously due to the quality of the story surrounding them and the abysmal presentation.
