Review for Bitterblack Isle.
Bitterblack Isle is a pretty fun super dungeon for a while. It has its own really neat story that feels way more than 80% of the main games story.
I think the first cycle of the dungeon is pretty fun, and I kind of just ran through the second cycle because I was done with the game at that point. The second cycle just inflates health bars way too high for me to have any fun. I fought one of the better drakes and was done with fighting anything until fighting Daimon round 2. I think Awakened Daimon is kind of a piece of shit, but maybe I was just the wrong class.

I heard that this game is just blatantly unfinished, but it still like one of the most amazing things at the same time. From playing it, yeah I can see it. The story feels like they couldn't do what they wanted, but still did it all, so parts just feel missing. The world map is pretty cool, but so much of it is just isn't used or nothing points you there.
What makes it so cool though is the classes and their skills are super neat. I only found the archer classes to be the fun ones however, but they are still way funner than many other games. It kind of feels like Itsuno played a ranger class in DnD and just wanted to make that the super good class.
The pawn system has so much depth too which is really cool.
I can really see this game being forged in the diamond it deserves to be, really hope Dragon's Dogma 2 gets ALL the time it needs.

I played the demo for this and was digging it quite a bit. Once I got the full game I also digged it for a while. When I saw enemies when guns I thought it was wrong but I shrugged it off. Eventually though, I got to the dungeon and all my little problems just became ripe and I had to stop. Its mainly just the clunky controls, which I get, its supposed to be like that to be like old RE. I guess I only played REmake and not original RE1, but it didn't feel clunky at all. I hate all the slow down I have in this game when I'm expected to actually dodge attacks some attacks and not kite.
Besides all that, it is pretty cool, but that shit just bummed me out hard.

I played quite a bit of Sonic when I was younger, but now with replaying this I "get" it. Zooming through a level can be fast, and this game takes away all the fucking guard rails to allow that speed to happen. So yeah, I had a bunch of jank ass weirdo deaths that wouldn't happen in any other game, but that needs to be there to have that Freedom of Speed. I only wish that there wasn't a fucking lives system. I think it completely sours all the fun I had. Everytime I died, I just had to look at that counter go down and know I had to redo the level if I just kept fucking up at a particular part. It just completely discourages me from trying riskier routes.
I think the camera is pretty bad too, but thats mainly only for the levels that aren't Sonic/Shadow. I also hated like every single boss that wasn't Big Foot, Golem (Sonic), Ghost King, and Final Hazard. The bosses that are just the other characters just aren't fun. There are also way more death pits in boss arenas there there should be (zero).
I cannot deny that this game is kino though. The story rips ass, sonic is cool, shadow is cool.

Shit like this is what keeps me in love with video games. People can just do what the fuck they want and make these interesting art pieces. Its a huge mish mash of so much shit its extremely charming. It reminded me of 90's edutainment point and clicks, it made me think of modern "dark twist undertales", but it was also had so much of its own shit. I highly recommend this if you love seeing what independent artists are making.
