Takes everything I've loved about every previous Metroid entry and fine tunes them into an absolute blast of a game. Also probably the most engaging Metroid story for me, perfectly keeping the balance between isolated and atmospheric gameplay with both exciting cut scenes and visual storytelling. A perfect difficulty in my opinion and honestly begging to be re-played already. Really love this game.

Had the potential, just ultimately fell short of what I was hoping for with this when I first hear of it.

This absolutely blew me away. Love these couch co-op games and playing this with my partner really brought me back to the college days of playing Portal 2 co-op in her apartment on Saturday mornings.

Every inch of this game is filled with creativity and I constantly found myself with the biggest grin on my face. It looks great and runs wonderfully. Had a few problems with some of the story beats and a bit of the mechanics were somewhat repetitive but none of that even comes close to shadowing the absolute joy I had with this game. Definitely recommend this one.

Takes a bit away from the DS version while having a few components of its own that are improved. Overall, a pretty good way to experience one of my favorite games of all time.

I will never play it docked though.

Finally completed this one after years of attempting on both the Gamecube and Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii. Has a lot of the fun exploration of the original but also kind of copy/pastes some gameplay from it too? Really liked the light/dark world at the beginning when the dark world hurt you and you needed to plan your route better, but once you get to the end game it becomes a bit of a hassle to go and find a portal.

Also I am not a fan of the dark suit but I am a big dan of the light suit so that about evens out.

Life is too short to play this the way it was intended.

Life is just long enough to play this with unlimited health and ammunition, however.

Doesn't have as much to offer as Wooly World and honestly I wasn't as compelled to collect in this one as much either. They changed up a few controls as well that really bothered me and were missed too. Love the look and a lot of the level design though. Overall good experience.

A little too much action for my taste, if they're just going to put a dash of the survivor/horror/exploration that made 2 so great. Doesn't really ever have the same dread you feel when you lose track of Tyrant because Nemesis' segments are always loud and straightforward. Still, a very good-looking game that is fun to play.

Very neat and fun jigsaw puzzles to work on with something else in the background or with the calming in-game music. Wish there was a little bit more and the controls are kind of slow and cumbersome. Using a stylus helps in handheld mode but then the small screen makes it harder to see what you're solving. Also just wish there were more puzzles, but hey at least there's a sequel!

Pretty much as close as I can think to my ideal survival-horror, without being too much of either genre. I can see where some of the back-tracking can be cumbersome but it honestly just enhances the overall experience for me. And just what a gorgeous game to see and hear. All of the elements combine to create the perfect atmosphere. If you want want that adrenaline boost, then this is the best game for it.

I was really was looking to 100% this back when it came out, but just got too distracted. Always liked this one particularly for the aesthetic and all of the collectibles (being able to unlock new Yoshi skins as you play was genius, especially with the special levels).

2020

I've tried a few rouge-like/lites in the past enough to know that they just aren't my style, so when Hades comes around and seemingly wins the world over in praise, I had to try it out. I will say, while the genre still isn't my favorite, Hades has just enough charm and style with ample, unique gameplay mechanics that really kept me hooked. Never thought I would complete one of these and actually feel compelled to try a few more runs, but here we are!

After a very impressive intro, I found myself a bit overwhelmed by all of the missions and side-quests that suddenly became available to me at once. It honestly it turned me away - and I LOVE doing arbitrary things in video games...

After a long break, I forced myself to get back into it and at least complete the main story which is all it took for me to get swept up, I really became invested from there. The story itself I think is pretty good, though I definitely understand some of the criticism I've seen for it, but just the way the story unfolds and the game weaves you through it I think is just truly exceptional. It's because of the story that I found myself completing more side-quests and finding more unlockables to the point that when I did complete the main story, I had to keep going because I felt my own personal story wasn't done yet. That and there will store more foxes to pet. I kept telling myself that I would never 100% complete this one as I didn't really feel compelled to, but I'm not so sure now. I just might have to squeeze every last drop out of this one.

I like the bit of strategy they messed with here, after playing Star Fox 2, it seems like a part of the franchise that is kinda missed now.

The ending where Fox and Falco become racers is the only canon ending in my mind.

This is the kind of next gen gaming I got the Series X for.
