games that scared me as a kid that are not horror games

okay so like literally and without exaggeration this game's bosses all scared me in some way or another but the scariest one by FAR was pufftoss. something about that blowfish just fucking terrified me. also that one cancel sign that appears when you accidentally take a transformation too far out of the area you're supposed to use it in and the game reverts you... that thing also scared me. i actually recently replayed this game and it still kind of is like a jump scare to me.
monster ock was terrifying and i feel like no shame in admitting this
this game was really weird but in a cool way. that said, that part where you're climbing up vulture's tower and he like sets it on fire really scared me and the music for this game in general was very intense. like you know that part in the first level after you "interrogate" that guy and go to the hideout? the music change there scared me
okay so there's this one track that plays (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjWKHsDhHQA) and halfway through it gets SCARY by which i mean just kind of loud. but it was SCARY also the theme for when you have to hold raditz still spooked me a bit too
the shark in atlantica was really scary to me mostly because it was in such a quiet area and just sneaks up on you. also iirc the camera perspective changes weirdly for it too.
the lair of the beast was like the world's most obvious set up but it still spooked me as a kid.
you know that one mission where you're committing a house burglary with ryder and you have to be really quiet or else you'll wake the guy upstairs? if you act too noisy twice you get this really sudden cutscene of the guy waking up in his sleep and screaming and it was like really jarring and abrupt so i was scared
the sharks in this game were scary as SHIT to me. i mostly hated the dread of like being in water in an area you weren't supposed to be in and seeing that fin appear and going "oh god it's coming i'm gonna die i'm gonna die oh fuck" and it like really fucked with me
basically the same as ratchet and clank. despite being terrified of spiders as a kid (i love them now they rule), spider cave didn't scare me like at all.
that one pogo level where you have to pogo without hitting a mushroom scared me because sometimes they would spawn right as you jumped on the space they grew in and you'd lose and it was always sudden and scared me
okay i could not tell you why but i swear to god the bosses in this game scared me. but i don't even really remember racing any of them as a kid so i was just scared of like the anticipation of racing them. really silly stuff
i dont know why but master hand used to really scare me like something about his introduction was just like terrifying to me as a kid
like likes were kind of scary in adventure mode like they did next to nothing but a lot of the time they were hard to see (at least on my TV at the time) so getting eaten by them would always be a big surprise and scare me
i watched someone play this at an arcade once and they got a game over and the game over screen gave me nightmares
you know how the "peach" portrait actually turns into bowser in the first bowser stage? that scared me along with bowser's 3D model in general
dude andross is fucking scary also there's just something really empty and like... kind of horrific about the game to me like yeah it's funny and memeable but it's also very violent
