Even though I loved re4, I knew to expect something much different from this game going into it. And I really enjoyed my time with it. The atmosphere is tense and scary and the gameplay, while admittedly a little less fun and action packed than 4, complements the survival horror focus.
The presentation is overall great as well. Voice acting, models, lighting, facial animations are all on point. The only thing that I think felt a little off was a bit of the sound design for the guns. The gunshot sound effects sounded really soft and didn't have much impact compared to Resident evil 4 Remake which I was a bit disappointed by.
Other than a few nitpicks the game is great

if they don't fuck up Reload and make it baby bitch easy with imbalanced gameplay like P5R then it's probably gonna be my next favorite game of all time because in terms of themes, story and writing P3 blows the other 2 new-era Persona games out of the water
I like P4 and 5 but the formulaic way that each dungeon/palace "arc" is presented makes the story feel a lot worse in retrospect. I think P3's Tartarus works really well with the calendar format of new persona and helps P3s story shine a lot more as well. in addition, character development of SEES feels way more natural than the 4 and 5 cast and the 2nd tier persona Awakening for each member is way better as well
I feel like a lot of the problems people have with p4 and 5 are ironically addressed by the game that laid the foundation for them... and im not even finished yet. Game is amazing so far tho
