people say this is the dark souls of visual novels, but don't get it twisted. dark souls wishes it was as brutal as this game.

like the name says: cute! the bachelors sucked though. localization team were rotten cowards for taking out the thinly veiled lesbian option where you could ask a girl to spend the rest of your lives together and raise a kid with her.

i know this game has a reputation in the fire emblem community as a game that set back the series and turned it into a dating sim with a rancid community but hear me out: i like dating sims and play on casual and you can't stop me. the story can be weak at times but there's something so relaxing about grinding and leveling and building supports, i don't even want to guess how many hours i've logged into it over the years.

mastered in my case meaning i unlocked every support that isnt just a copy-paste depending on the parents because... well, i'm a little gamer girl who loves reading supports lol

honestly it's such a shame telltale sucks and went down the way it did, because this game is infinitely better than the new mainline borderlands entry. genuinely funny and interesting. great voice cast.

me unironically putting this in the 5 star category. what can i say. i was one of those kids.

INCREDIBLY underrated and it's a shame this ip has gone to waste, although given ea's involvement with bioware these days... that might be for the best. if you want a fantasy rpg that isn't based off of western medieval fantasy + a rather unique combat system, give it a try!

note that it does have lgbt romances, however you'll have to go looking for a mod that will let you kiss your gay love interest.

this game was SUPER janky but boy, i did love playing it on an emulator when i was younger. i never finished it, but it was fun. i'd be interested in seeing this remade, honestly.

cried like a big baby because the topics in this game hit really hard given life at the time. if you're post-highschool and maybe someone who skipped out on college, this one will mess you up. cathartic. everyone has their issues but that's the point.

go into it for the birds, come out traumatized.

bigby i know i'm a lesbian and you're a sexy werewolf man but we can work something out i promise

all time favorite game. not to say that it doesn't have it's flaws or things that haven't aged well, but that doesn't detract from the rating or experience for me. it stands as a testament to rpgs for me and i have logged more hours into this game replaying it than any other game... ever, probably. alistair theirin is the peak of video game romances btw

not the BEST visual novel i've played over the years, but there are a lot of elements that are genuinely enjoyable! the first route is the most basic but also the best, at least imo. benefits from completing all routes as there's a True Route after everything else. worth noting that each route Completely changes the characters' relationships and the story itself, it isn't just "pick a boy and see the story through the lense of romancing him and being close to him". each route's story is tailor specifically to the boy you choose.

it also is surprisingly unsettling, especially the further into the routes you go as things get less grounded. PLAY THE YELLOW DIAMOND ROUTE LAST. there's triggering content in that route as well, so if thats something that worries you i suggest spoiling yourself a little bit.

this game has so many issues but at the end of the day im a lesbian who loves the gameplay and logged 69 hours exactly into it. which i count as a win.

soooo here's the thing. i think this game had a lot of potential! i like how hopeful it is sometimes, despite the things happening! it's kind of wondrous! i really like some of the characters and i do like the way there are multiple personalities you can have (something i liked about da2 but a little more complex here)! vetra <3

that said, this game is just lacking... something. it's hard to explain what. the gameplay is monotonous and a lot of the exploring is just... boring to me, which is such a shame since despite its flaws i thought dai did that aspect very well. it's just kind of boring. i don't know if being attached to such a popular ip helps or harms it. as a standalone it would be fine, but because it's a MASS EFFECT game it feels like a massive letdown compared to the trilogy. on the other hand, i feel like this game would've just been largely ignored if it was a standalone? it's a shame, really.

tentatively put as abandoned because i have no plans to go back to it when there are more interesting things in my backlog, but i'm not opposed to going back eventually?

this game is good, but not quite as good as the original from what i played! has the fun easter egg of much of the cast being voiced by the players of critical role. i'll come back to it eventually!

still sad that edér wasn't among the characters given a romance despite him being one of the two main reasons everyone asked for romance in the sequel, but it's fine LOL
