these pocket color fighting games tend to be pretty similar gameplay wise, so i'll definitely be comparing them when reviewing (though they're all worth playing in their own right). with that said, i did miss the inclusion of the story mode that SNK VS Capcom had, but there's just something so cool about the fatal fury franchise that i think i may have enjoyed this one just a bit more. fatal fury games have so much style and flair to them (especially with Real Bout and onwards) that i just don't think many other fighting games could top for me. fucked up that they don't have duck king in here though

too sunburnt on vacation to do much else at the moment, so i figured i'd download a whole bunch of pocket color fighting games and they're all a blast. just happened to beat the story mode on this one first (with guile, ken, and terry). such an extremely solid fighting game for a handheld. admittedly i'm playing on my laptop keyboard so special moves are a bit difficult to pull off, but it's a fun time nonetheless. i think im gonna dive more into handheld systems

i legitimately cannot believe how well this game plays, even in comparison to the other releases in the series (that i've played). ray is my boy. fighter's history may have single handedly convinced me that snes fighters are worth my time, and not just inferior ports of arcade titles.

beat the story mode with mai ling. super interesting game. im still a bit confused on how to get your character's level up higher, but i had fun nonetheless. can definitely see myself playing through this with the other three characters.

criminally underrated beat em up. this should be held up next to all the highest praised games in the genre. it's got a completely manageable level of difficulty, exciting music, and a simple and intuitive fighting system that works universally on all enemies. if you're looking for an arcade beat em up that isn't capcom, play this one.

while it doesn’t do a whole lot new for the genre, i still had a blast beating this with my friend. playing it solo is more than likely impossible for the average person, but if you’ve got a friend and nothing to do for the night, it’s probably worth your time

gotta admit, this was a bit of a slog to get through lmao. absolutely ridiculous level of difficulty with mechanics that do little to nothing to combat that difficulty. very obvious that the genre was still in its infancy.

playing this again and i think i like it even better now. the combo system is so easy to use, the game's style oozes character, and the game mechanics are simple to understand (with a little bit of reading). one of my new favorites.

get's a bit too hard near the end for my liking, but a super fun time all around. great animations, great guns, great music.

this game is so insanely addicting, i just wish the online was more active : (. i wanna get all my friends to play this. love it

takes everything to enjoy about the first game and improves on it. i love this one, flaws and all.

i obviously understand why people typically have a negative opinion on this game (especially at the time it released), but idk i think it's actually a pretty fun time. missing a lot of my favorite KOF characters, but gimme terry and i'll have a ball with this one.

one of my favorites in the series, but there is no way i am beating that final boss

has a lot of really good ideas that few games have captured since. sadly it's insanely difficult, but a very interesting game still exists within it

beat the arcade and story mode. the animation is truly top notch. beautiful game with great characters and controls. i would love to get better at it. i love this series
