It's not about Raytracing, its about this. THIS PARTICULAR VIBE.
While a game like Cyberpunk 2077 creates its world to surprise and bombard you with things you have not seen before, Deus Ex's toolbox is much more limited. Its main colours are black and gold, it. It's dark, dingy, grimy and seedy. You live between these quiet moments of looking at a puddle of water or observing the alley from 2nd Floor. Its a tech noir.
But when it comes to the gameplay and level design, Deus Ex is so much better. The impact of the augments are a lot more visible and substantial, the gameplay is much more fluid and Adam has been contextualized in this dystopia perfectly.
Its not perfect. Its funny how the NPCs know about all your activities. The construction of the buildings, the fashion of the people is a little more fantastical and less grounded. This game has a world wide news caster wearing Elizabethian collar, and a black lingerie top with lace stockings with high heeled boots. xD
We need a new Deus Ex game in this gen with the gameplay and level design of the newer games and the world building of the first one. Maybe with a more interactable and bigger world while still maintaining the hub structure.

Albert Einstein said "Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal." Took me a while, but I finally see his point. How often have we chased the dream of progress, only to see that dream perverted? More often than not, haven't the machines we built to improve life shattered the lives of millions? And now we want to turn that dream on ourselves, to fundamentally improve who we are. Experience has shown me how dangerous that can be.

this game had immense balance for gas filters i dont know how they did it, i was always panicing about air and never comfortably full to not be worrying about it
also first linear game i played that didnt feel like one, the first time in the open i was genuinely happy with the level progression since i didnt feel like catte being led with a carrot. the world was plausible enough for me to go through it and accept the blockages as a post apocalyptic mess of the outside
