The game was pretty great in the beginning. The way of exploring the map/types of potions using different paths created by various types of ingredients felt refreshing and fun. Running a small potion shop and fulfilling various requests of the people was relaxing and satisfying. But then the map opened up, and exploration and discovery became difficult in an annoying way. The gameplay loop became a grind fest with barely any significant upgrades to help with any of that. I reached the first milestone and finished the Nigredo which again felt useless and unsatisfying.

I feel like the concept is solid and this game could have been amazing with some minor changes to the loop, a decent narrative, and some quality-of-life improvements.

I'd recommend trying out the game for yourself if you get it on a sale.

I found it to be very unique. The movement and action were very fluid. The atmosphere and the levels were wonderful, all around, it was a great experience.

Liked the story and the choices but didn't find the gameplay super appealing.

2017

I kinda started losing interest towards the end but the game is so polished (like every Super Giant game) and the concept is so cool.

The PC controls is the one of the main reasons for the low rating

The starvation mechanic just annoyed the shit out of me. After multiple tries, I just couldn't take it anymore.

This game reminds me of NFS Underground 2 so much. I loved that game to death. I had lost interest in the NFS series altogether but this game gives me hope. Can't wait to see what the next game is gonna be like.

Definitely recommend this game for anyone who loves melee close combat. I have played other BR games and I didn't like any of them but I love this one. Super fun combat and gameplay, beautiful world, beautiful girls, amazing weapon animations, what more do you need from a game like this. The only complaint I have is the aggressive micro transactions on the skins which is really greedy and annoying.

Beautiful game! The music and the flying mechanics just puts your mind at ease and makes you feel free and peaceful. The narrative was interesting. The only gripe I have with the game is Overall, the game was quite fun.

2022

I've played only a little bit so far but it's so peaceful and calming to play this coming directly from God Of War. It's a Casual, cute, beautiful and chill game! Definitely recommended!

The game just looks beautiful and serene and the music chef's kiss. Pretty short game play wise but an amazing experience. Highly recommended!

Some of the puzzles were really fun. I don't have a lot to say about the game play because it's a very simple game mechanics-wise but the art, visuals & music is just chef's kiss

Pretty good stealth game with some nice abilities and well designed levels. The only gripe I have with the game is poor implementation of the coop multiplayer. The absence of a reconnect option along with the save system which only let's you load the game from the start of a chapter makes for a really frustrating experience. I had multiple instances where I was playing with a friend and we were almost at the end of a chapter and he got disconnected, so we have to restart from the beginning of the freaking chapter.

Visually beautiful. Nice narrative. Definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of the genre.

Before I say anything else, I wanna say that this game is purely exploration/survival with a hint of other elements like combat, trading etc. So if you don't like exploration, don't buy it. And most importantly, don't buy it because of the hype. Its hyped because of its technical complexity and because no other game has ever attempted Procedural Generation at this scale. Basically this game became so popular before its release because its UNIQUE. So if you are looking for an experience similar to other games, don't go for this and do us a favor, please don't say ♥♥♥♥ about the game based on your self assumed expectations of the game.
Anyway, this game is a technical marvel and just being in there, playing for hours alone, trying to explore and survive makes you realise how vast the game universe is and in turn how vast our real universe is. It has a sense of awe about it.
The gameplay could have been less repetitive and the PC version should have been better optimized/tested for the lag issues. I'm sure Hello Games will fix it soon or I hope so.
Conclusion: I would request everyone who likes trying out new, unique games and who like exploration to definitely try NMS and for the others I won't recommend it.
