which game do you want a translation for the most?

basically asking backloggd users the question in the title: if there is ONE game that does not yet have a translation, neither fan-made nor official, in english or a language you can understand otherwise that you could magically wish into having one, which would it be? it can ONLY be one game. provide some explanation as to why it would be yours in the comments and ill add it! also this is first come first serve, if someone picks your first choice, give me your second choice (unless someone takes that one too then gimme your third, and so on).

ludzu - as a diehard love-de-licker i would use my wish to have this text heavy spiritual sequel to moon translated into english over pretty much anything else, knowing full well there's not much chance of it happening because of how difficult a fan translation must be. i technically want to play ufo: a day in the life the most of any japan-only game, but its not nearly as dependent on reading the text to play, and i could probably do some work myself to get the gist of what text is there. its just pure stubbornness to have full context of the game's personality on my part.

Every other untranslated game at this point im really interested could probably be at least somewhat understood without a full translation (Germs, SMT Devil Summoner, Linda3) or already exists in english (EP PSP as sussy baka mentioned). I want to be able to witness the pure fucking batshit of sega essentially jerking itself off and have an even remotely small idea of what the fuck is going on. sounds like the exact kind of insanity i'd love. ive heard the game is infamously difficult to translate tho so thats a pipe dream if there ever was one."

DustyVita - (from the discord) "It released basically right when I caught up with the series but never made it west. There was a PS2 game but it was just trying to be an okay boxing game while this actually captures what a fight in Ippo feels like with their signature blows and a story of dream matches and alternate what-ifs. And there was a drought of Boxing games at the time this could've filled admirably."

BansheeNeet - "A lot of my big wishlist games are already here, so I'm going to go with a weird one: Twinbee RPG. An entry in the Twinbee series that isn't a shooter, but instead a 3D PS1 RPG. It has a cute artstyle and presentation, and I've always liked the look of the Twinbee cast so them being in a more story-based thing is appealing to me, as well as it being a 3D game on the PS1 of course. Also there's some dating game mechanics in it for some reason? I'm very interested in it, even if it doesn't seem like the greatest game."

Baroque
Pikadourei - "For me its absolutely gotta be the Saturn/PSX version of Baroque. My favorite games are JRPGs with dark sinister aesthetics accompanied by minimalistic narratives and if Baroque is as good as it looks I have no doubt in my mind it'll take a spot up there. Also the ost just bangs!

Giftpia
Giftpia
Lehuan - "Giftpia is a life-sim/adventure game by one of the directors of Chibi Robo, who also worked on Moon, for the Gamecube, it seems to be sort of like a more surreal and story focused Animal Crossing, where you oversleep the day of your coming of age ceremony, get sent to jail for it, and are forced to do different jobs to pay off the debt for a new ritual or else you'll be stuck as a child forever. You also have to drag a ball and chain and your face is pixelated at the start of the game, but later you find out there are other paths to adulthood by helping others.
I'm kind of a sucker for Shenmue style life-sims, or anything that resembles it, this game has stuff like having to eat and sleep which Animal Crossing doesn't really have, despite my comparison, so I'd love to see for myself how its systems are. Plus, it seems very quirky and charming."
Kenka Bancho 4: Ichinen Sensou
Kenka Bancho 4: Ichinen Sensou
Androu1 - "Kenka Bancho 4 because 3 (Badass Rumble) was lit as hell but it was the only one to get localized. I honestly wish all of them got translated (except the otome, don't really care about those) but I'll just pick 4 as it's the next one after the one we did get."
Kajiri Kamui Kagura
Kajiri Kamui Kagura
ZeifWagner - "Kajiri Kamui Kagura because it's the sequel to one of my favorite VNs and the general aesthetics appeal to me A LOT. It's a shame that a translation will probably never happen officially or fan-made considering light went bankrupt, Dies Irae kickstarter campaign had a lot of problems, and the novel itself uses tategaki, it's full of past Shinza Bansho games references, and uses old japanese + chuuni prose."

Germs: Nerawareta Machi
Germs: Nerawareta Machi
FMTownsParty - "My 3 bigguns are on here already (Segagaga, Hungry Ghosts, UFO) but I can't think of another game that's LESS likely to get a translation than Germs: Nerawareta Machi. The landscape and audiovisuals are probably doing 9/10ths of the legwork if I had to guess, but it'd still be nice to have some better sense of the world."
deSpiria

Moonlight Syndrome
OG Devil Summoner

ill add persona 2 unless you wanna make a case for something else, and why that game specifically (asking so i can add your input as a note to the entry)?

Goemon 3, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.

that was at @baka_ouji but also should make clear: you only get ONE choice and you gotta say why it would be that!!!

going to have to say kurohyou because i have a feeling a moonlight syndrome project is in the works, the translation currently out is wildly imperfect, and because the game is made for me. motion comic cutscenes, ps2 yakuza exploration, def jam combat

added sggg and kurohyou!! im also putting up p2 moonlight and goemon 3 with the names of those who first suggested it attached for now, but if anyone is interested in stealing one of them by saying why it would be THEIR choice, then its all yours...

Gokinjo Boukentai for me!
of all the games i've wanted to play that are still untranslated, Boku No Natsuyasumi is probably the one. Even though it's probably like, one of the hardest to do so :(

My reason is it looks adorable. A Maruko-chan-esque Earthbound.
ah forgot reasoning. The reviews for it made it seem like a powerfully charming game that,, just in footage honestly make me feel a flurry of childlike things. It's so strong with the aesthetic that the fact that it's something I could be missing out forever on hurts like hell!

i almost want to put in a placeholder for it until it's in the database, any ideas? or should i just add the original twinbee and say its the rpg one, actually?

I think just using some Twinbee game as a placeholder would work for now!

that's how it'll be for now then!

this is a really trivial choice, but chocobo's mystery dungeon on playstation - it's the only other game that masashi hamauzu of final fantasy x fame wrote music for that i'm interested in playing other than final fantasy xiii (and xiii-3), but a complete english translation just doesn't exist.

maybe i should just listen to the soundtrack anyway but that's just not how i get into soundtracks, sadly
yakuza kenzan/ishin i think its interesting to see the yakuza characters in a different time period
i wanted to only say ishin but it isn't available on the website so put kenzan
shin megami tensei nine. produced during the twilight years of cozy’s career, a period where he felt burden by the creative restraints opposed by the alignment system and desired to push mainline in a more nuanced direction. nine found itself being the rough, penultimate realization of these newfound ambitions and functioned as a crucial learning point for atlus staff. nine (heh) alignment choices, the intersection of the internet and spiritual ideology, the artificial resurrection of mythological archetypes.... so many fascinating concepts invoked here. gotta play it some day

(as a side note, i’d love to see somebody finish subbing that nocturne documentary. appreciate how someone went ahead and subbed the first twenty or so minutes, but there’s still a treasure trove of developmental stories and discussions left untranslated in the back-half. i’ll throw the links here, the first one is the incomplete sub and the second one is the complete, raw video)

ufo

@BasedSimeon Ishin actually has a fan translation done by KHHSubs (if you don't mind reading from a pdf) and there's a team working on making a patch to get it working in-game (look up MsDarkLow on youtube to see progress/updates on it). Kenzan had a team working on it but that project seems to be on indefinite hiatus now.

My pick for the list would've been Garage but then that got a fan translation and an announcement for an official localization at practically the same time, so I guess I'll be boring and suggest Kurohyo 2. The extremely janky fan translation of Kurohyo got me interested enough to see more of those characters and the combat was surprisingly fun. Also I'm a sucker for the Yakuza games and am desperate for more.
