the biggest complement i can give a game is saying that it puts me at peace.
this game hits different for me. i moved away from home last year to NYC from a small little country town to chase my dream career. a year later I'm established in my industry and living the big city dream life, and i think it's sapping the soul out of my body. every time i boot up this game i get transported back to my childhood, running around on my grandparents farm, making friends, enjoying nature, and i feel at peace with the world.
farming sims hold a very special place in my heart, my first gaming systems were a hand-me-down Gameboy Color and Nintendo DS. some of my first games for each system were Harvest Moon GB and Harvest Moon Sunshine Islands. my childhood was formed around those games and i was never quite able to replicate that feeling of joy of playing those games until i picked up Stardew Valley last year.
one could obviously talk for hours about how objectively good this game is when compared to other farming sims on the market, but what i think it does best is create an atmosphere and vibe of utter peace.
the hardest quote i've ever heard from a game is in this game's opening. "the same thing happened to me, long ago. i'd lost sight of what mattered most in life... real connections with other people and nature."
this game is beyond goated, shoutout to Mr. Concerned Ape for this masterpiece

this may genuinely be the greatest trilogy of games ive ever played. ive always loved mysteries since i was a kid and even went as far to base my career around solving them, so this game reaaaally hit for me. ive also never seen such a strong collection of mystery whodunnit stories. almost every case had me on the edge of my seat, especially in the 3rd game. also this is one of the strongest casts of characters ive ever seen. the core group is so incredible and i adored all of them. the thing that stuck out for me is that even in its low points, the ace attorney games still shined through (be it a really good character, culprit, vibe, etc) which is something that I feel like I can't say about a lot of games. ive also never quite identified with a protagonist as much as I did with both Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth (he just like me fr ×2). this is also genuinely the funniest group of games ive ever played, everything about this trilogy's humor was just so fkn well done. as far as a rating for each game ive gotta say it goes T&T > AA > JFA. what an experience, definitely earned a fake law degree from it.

damn what a kooky game bro. normally i probably wouldn't have even touched this game but with all the hype it got this year it made its way to the top of my backlog pretty quickly. this was only my 2nd survival horror game after dead space so i was really only here for the story and on that front this game excels. i was hooked from the get go and that carried on until the end, def one of the best narratives of last year. the characters tho all felt kinda flat to me, mostly the main ones. the side characters like Ahti and Tor/Odin were pretty goated but bro Saga and Casey and Alan were just like bleh and their line delivery was sometimes just kinda dog water. also the gameplay was like trying to drive a semi in a hurricane and i did not care for it. overall, this game is great and i think even ppl who aren't fans of this genre can appreciate it. also damn that soundtrack fucks
