This game feels awful to control and fight.
Maybe the fighting gets better after grinding for levels, but it won’t fix the bad movement.

I played this game basically unspoiled by the section of internet that loves (and also hates?) this game. I played it without being spoiled by the haters of the fans of this game. It's a neat little game that I think is good and not bad, but is also sometimes straight up unfun to play.

I think this is a good Sonic game, which still means I don't like it I think. I would like to give this another run at some point in the future.

I do not know what to say about Doom that has not been said by literally anyone who has played, or not played, Doom. It's Doom, baby.

I played this game because Professional Video Game Expert Tim Rogers will review it for his Action Button Reviews Series. I'm treating his reviews like a little book club: if he announces he will do a review and I'm interested in the game, I want to play it to form my own opinion.

The hook of this game is incredible. Cecil decides that he no longer wants to participate in the evildoings of his country. With one final task from the king, Cecil unwittingly becomes a terrorist, and must atone for his sins and fight his former country.

If anyone would have told me this was the plot of the game instead of the generally accepted idea that "This is a generic fantasy setting and game" I would have played it years ago! If you would have told me that the main character regularly has sex and it's handled in a mature and not creepy way I would have downloaded the ROM immediately.

This game is also easy, but in a good way. I nearly 100%ed the game in 24 hours without a guide. I do not say this to brag. I say this to show that this game is designed so incredibly well that a doofus like me can beat it, and beat nearly everything! There are some esoteric things in the last few rooms of the last dungeon that I did not do and did not know existed, but, on my own and because of the good writing and game design, I was able to obtain everything in this game, including all the optional bosses and summons.

Very early in the game the party obtains a hovercraft. From that point on, there is almost no overworld traversal that requires walking or random encounters. More games should do this! It made exploration breezy and fun.

This game is not 5 stars to me because it's my rating and that's how I feel! I also thought that the game was going to end, it felt like a climax, and then there was like 3-4 more hours of game and everything that happened in what I thought was the climax happened again? So not my favorite pacing in the last few hours.

Don't let anyone dissuade you from playing this version because they say the localization is bad. It's good and fun and charming.

Persona 5 is my favorite game of all time. After 100 hours in Shibuya I still wanted to spend more time with the Phantom Thieves. This game is more time with the Phantom Thieves. I love the new locations, even if they are a bit sparse (and some models are just standing in awkward positions in cities, so it feels fake), I love being with my Phantom Thieves again, and I love the dungeons.

The combat just isn’t good. I played on difficult until the 6th dungeon when I switched to normal, only because I was ready to blow through and beat the game. It’s mindless and easy, even on the hardest difficulty. P5 changed how I thought about turn-based combat, so this just wasn’t it for me. I am interested in other Musuo games, particularly the DQ and Hyrule ones, but they seem distinct from this game. Adding a party member at the 5th dungeon was wack (Persona 5 also suffered from this!).

I wish the combat were better, and I wish there were more opportunities to make choices and just hang out, but this is still a good game as a Persona 5 fan. Maybe not a good one, but a game I enjoyed for the time I played.

This game is a simulacrum of Pokemon Snap for the N64, which I recently 100%ed a few years ago. Everything in this game feels like a theme park ride rather than an environment. Trying to see everything in this game involves using every possible tool at every possible moment, leaving behind a trail of rotting fruit behind the cart. It lacks the thoughtfulness required in Pokemon Snap N64, and doesn't even come close to matching the heart.

There are some very good animations, but I wish this game was just better.

Into the Breach is a perfect game to look at and think about for 15 minutes without making any decisions. It's like chess with giant robots that make aliens kill each other instead of destroying machines. I've fully completed this game twice, once on PC, once on Switch, and I still see myself returning to this game in the future.

Persona games live and die by combat and characters. The characters in this game are great. I love them and their artwork. Their stories are genuinely tragic and heartfelt.

The combat, on the other hand, is a slog. I'm not one to complain about random battles. I've played a lot of Pokemon and Dragon Quest, and I can handle random battles. But this game? There are too many. I would be fine with random battles if the combat was quick or good, and it is neither. It takes so long to select what to do in this game. It's also more generic JRPG than SMT or later SMT games, which is such a disappointment. If battles moved even a little faster I think I would enjoy this game much more, but as it stands it was a slog to play despite the riveting story and great characters.

This game is the sleeper hit of the SNES Online games on the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario World has been released countless times. I've played it on the Super Nintendo, the Wii, the 3ds, the SNES Mini, and the Switch. Everyone knows about it. More people should know about and play Mario's Super Picross. This game makes me want to scream in delight at its sounds, puzzles, and art. Seriously, Picross is good, and this is a good Picross!

This is 4 stars instead of 5 because most of the pictures were unrelated to Mario, which is bad because there's so much good Mario art in this game!

Minit is as close to perfection as a video game can be. It looks great. It has goofy mechanics. It requires thoughtfulness and compassion. If more video games had visuals and stories like Minit the world would be a better place. Most video games do not looks like Minit, much less have stories like Minit, and the world is a worse place because of it. Play Minit.

This game has a 420 69 joke, which would make me roll my eyes in any video game except this one-bit game about a cat in a robot suit. It's a good and short Metroidvania, the length that any good game in this genre should be.

I played this game two years after completing Celeste and one day after completing Celeste Classic 2. Celeste is the game that keeps on giving. It's like Mario Maker 2, except there are only hits, no misses. I can't believe how perfect this little game is. I think it's even more perfect than Celeste if that's possible. Everyone should play this charming, short game.

More Celeste. Celeste is the game that keeps on giving. It's like Mario Maker 2, except it's always good. There are no bad levels. I played this the day it came out and enjoyed it. I will play it again, even though I don't think the jumping is quite as good as Celeste.

I played the entire story of this game in a cabin while on a snowshoeing trip. Celeste was better than a lot of the snowshoeing, but I thoroughly enjoyed both.

I love that Celeste is multiple games. The standard levels and core provide a tough platformer with a touching story. The B sides are a tougher game that require precision and planning in a way the main game doesn't. C sides require the player to engage with every mechanic, even the hidden ones. The beauty is that B and C sides aren't required. They're just more, different Celeste if the player loves Celeste.
