This game gets a bad reputation, but I think that's somewhat undeserved, because the story, world, and music are all so central to the FF experience later on that it's worth it for that alone. It's very unbalanced - the Blood Sword trivialized the final boss - and sometimes the maps are beyond frustrating - I took a few month break because Pandaemonium gave me a headache. However, it's interesting, it has great music, and it's the starting point for many FF tropes later on. For that, I suggest checking it out.

Screw those Magic Tactics/Weapon Tactics achievements, though.
