My honest rating ^ dont worry

rhythm games dont get better than this one unfortunately, if you havent played this game before literally what are you doing that could be more important

Ooo just like Elite beat agents this game oozes of charm and creativity. I wont go into my opinions here but i only enjoyed this game slightly less than EBA because i didnt understand shit of the story, menus or anything requiering reading cuz you know japanese.

I think video games peaked here

Better then the first, also mission 12 broke my heart ;(

A fantastic sequel that holds up to its predecessor with honors.

Blessed + Sovl + Humanity restored + Banger + Nihilism is a bitch + Bropilled

this game, elite beat agents, and gitaroo man are all the proof i need to happily declare iNiS as the kings of rhythm games. a plethora of genres intertwined yet every song feels connected thematically. the note tapping is silky smooth and glides along to the beat naturally. all of this coated with a thick layer of inspirational emotional motivation and personal charm, presented strongly with a fun-filled artstyle. ends on such a gleeful note that erupts a certain fanfare inside all of us. transcends the boundaries of language with music as a device to communicate with the human spirit. reaches the zenith of the mountain and then shoots for the stars. bursting with overwhelming charisma. this is what video games are all about. goddamn.

For the sequel, iNiS didn't try fixing what wasn't broken. It's clear that the licensing costs for these games weren't worth the sales, which is a real shame. Once again, the J-rock covers are more competent than EBA's goofy versions. Badass final stage.

iNiS had such a good formula here, it's hard to fathom why it didn't carry on to the 3DS.

Community content on Osu! (2007) tends to fall short of a few things which made Ouendan so enjoyable - such as the cutscenes, characters, dual screen, screen-tapping, and uplifting music (it's about hot-blooded cheerleading after all.) Well, it's all here at your disposal, so what are you waiting for?

This was a game made with the DS in mind and took full advantage of the hardware to deliver a stellar product. The original wasn't bad but this took the lessons learned from Elite Beat Agents (2006) and cranked it up to 11.

It's a quintessentially Japanese product and the theme works extremely well in its favour. It's understandable that it lacks broader appeal but honestly, nothing you can substitute it for works quite as well, which is something its predecessor learned the hard way.

It also has the distinction of being the only game to make me jam out to a soccer anthem. It's that powerful.

I think I missed out on a lot by not being able to understand Japanese, but the tunes are still good and the game is still fun. The finale is a bit worse than EBA's, but still great, cheesy fun.

It's everything the last game had but more and improved. Took some of the EBA improvements and added it here with it own flavor. This time their are two teams of cheer squads. This game packs anohter banger of songs and fun gameplay scenarios. Not much to say other than that I didn't say in the other ones but Ouendan 2 is the most well rounded one and on days I struggle which game I like more this or EBA, which is pretty amazing as this game is very japanese and EBA is very american so I don't have any loyalty to the songs at all. Doesn't matter as it's a masterclass series.

Cool fact in japan you could even download the EBA agents from gamestores onto this game to unlock them as playable characters even though that game never came out over there.

I miss this series dearly. EBA + Ouendan are the peak of rhythm games for me, sure we got a clone in the form of "Osu!" but since it's more of a platform to make song charts with the same mechanics rather than its own full fledged game it is naturally lacking personality.

Ouendan 1 was a nice albeit unpolished experiment, Elite Beat Agents was a great evolution with QoL improvements and its own particularly charming group of characters with a sillyness aided by the adoption of North American stereotypes that are simply silly and fun.

Unfortunately I find Ouendan 2 to be a bit of a step down from EBA. A few of the songs simply have kinda boring and tedious charts as well as characters that don't always feel as compelling. However, this could be seen as subjective and we have some nice additions like 2 groups of Ouendan which develop a rivalry during the game, which I love seeing clash and then come around. The gameplay is also the most polished its ever been, thanks to this being the final game in the series.

Despite the language barrier, the stories are mostly easy to follow through illustrations that convey the characters pretty well. However, context will still be lost so I'd recommend following along with translations that are up on youtube or gamefaqs. Even if I don't find these as compelling, they still ooze with the signature charm of iNiS at the time and culminate in a great story of finding the drive to keep going in the face of adversity.

I think I wanted to say more but honestly it's just that these games make me so happy: following the troubles of the people in this wacky world and helping them overcome their hardships through song and dance is great satisfaction and fun and makes me kinda feel less alone. Yet again, the songs, writing, illustrations and gameplay all come together in a style that simply can't be replicated. While I'm sad this is the end, I'm very glad it happened and I'll always cherish these games as something to put on when I'm having a hard time to simply find my groove and get lost in for an hour.

The final song is just great. I am not getting over this one.

Ouendan! Ouendan! Ouendan! Ouendan! Ouendan! Ouendan! Ouendan! Ouendan! Ouendan!

Unfiltered awe and joy. Manages to enchant and charm the player in the little time you have together with it, and provides a beautiful message on human determination whilst doing so. Follow your dreams, overcome every obstacle and never give up. And sometimes, when life gets you down, there’ll always be those words you can shout. Who knows, maybe they’ll be someone out there who can help…

大須!大須!大須!

Fun game, takes a lot of the quality of life improvements from Elite Beat Agents and goes back to the Ouendan style of the original. However, I found the soundtrack and stories much weaker than either previous entry, which is unfortunate. Elite Beat Agents without the Material Girl…

It's so sad thinking this series didn't sadly meet sales expectation, because it honestly has an incredible potential.

Osu! Tatakae! Ounedan 2 is the sequel to both Elite Beat Agents and the first Osu, mixing the mechanics of the two and extremely improving them, creating one gem of a game that many people, even fan of the series or rhythm games in general haven't ever touched.

The pinnacle of OSU games for the DS, the most refined out of the three as well as the most enjoyable, incredibly underrated every rhythm game fan has to try these games.
The style still looks cheap in some areas, but with the budget they had, I'm more than happy.

Another gem of the DS library. It's so good.

Aside from the spinning wheel I had a romp of a time emulating this with a mouse. The convenience of playing a game at a whim because it just requires a mouse was what drew me into giving this series a go and it did not dissapoint.

It's like Katamari. It's just raw fun in every possible way.

Okay so take EBA and further improve on it and you get this.
