The go-to party game for me and my friends.
Boards can be hit or miss but it has by far the best minigame selection of the entire series

not my favorite Mario party but by no means bad

This was my first mario party. This game and all the other parties I've played, I'll always cherish the time I spent with friends on.

My least favorite of the GC ones, but still pretty solid overall. Booksquirm is of course one of the best MP minigames of all time.

Outside some stand-out minigames (like the page turning one) there is really not a lot memorable here. The maps are either bland or bad and the mega mini gimmick really doesn't help.

Whoever designed that luck based Boo boss and the Bowser boss can go straight to hell. Rest of the game was amazing

The intro animation is the most entertaining thing about this game.

The MP I grew up with
Very Enjoyable

mini mushroom is skeleton key but bad

imo the last great mario party. it was fun seeing the characters in the game cube graphics, and it had great minigames too

My favorite of the Gamecube era Mario Parties.

Some good minigames but the worst boards in any Mario Party I've played.

The minigames are excellent, and I actually really like the way this game looks. It's oddly the best-looking Mario Party game on GameCube.

I'm a bigger fan of the boards than most people—I don't mind the metal walkways, and otherwise they're still full of character! Shy Guy's Jungle Jam is my favorite. There's no denying that some of them are a little too luck-based, though. Koopa's Seaside Soiree in particular has no excuse for being designed the way it is.

I think this game's biggest sin is the item system. The items suuuuck, and your inventory gets filled with Mini or Mega Mushrooms before too long. They're super boring as power-ups and they don't stop loading you with them. Coming in between the stellar item systems of Mario Party 3 and the later GameCube games, the lackluster items in this one really stand out.

Overall, a good experience that could be so much better. I would be down to see some of these boards remixed in future Superstars-style games. (Please don't overload the series with remakes, though. Far too many series become choked out by feeling obligated to have a remake sub-series the moment they make a single remake.)

Ok, this was… a interesting game. I’m just going to get straight to the point. The boards were pretty bad, the characters moved around the board way to slow, and the mini games had some of my favorites, like Booksquirm. But the others in my opinion we’re still really good, but not as good as the ones in the others games. But this game is still a good game overall. The character selection was fine with me. As long as it has Luigi, I’m fine with it. Although, I think that could have at least added Toad, that would make the game a little better because Toad is amazing. Anyway, that’s one good thing about it. The graphics are also pretty decent as well, being one of the early GameCube games. There was also good comics and the story was hilarious with “The Party Cube”. Overall, this game was good, had many flaws that could be way better, and definitely wasn’t as good as any of the later ones or early ones, like 2, but also had good and funny things in it, so I personally enjoyed playing this game.

the finest awful party you'll ever attend. terrible charcuterie, good friends

I'm gonna wait until I have the chance to play this with other people to give it a star rating, but from what I've played it seems to be a perfectly serviceable entry in the series. But also I now realize that playing Mario Party single player as an adult is one of the most joyless things I've ever done. I can't believe I played so much Mario Party story mode as a kid, I cannot put myself through this.

Has some of the best minigames, and best music out of the series. Last game before DK becomes demoted to board NPC...
This game is just slightly better Mario Party 3, the boards are somewhat lacking however ...

I've put an insane amount of time into Mario Party 4, most of which was spent on only two boards. This game would be the Mario Party formula perfected if not for the fact that most of the boards kinda suck for one reason or another. There's some fun stuff in there, but the real party lies in the minigames. Most of the minigames are fun and highly replayable. Plus, the ability to remove minigames from a custom list is one of the best ideas a game like this has ever had... yet they never revisited this idea.
Mario Party 4 is really close to being my favorite Mario Party game. It's also probably my favorite from the GameCube era.

All of my reviews are going to be the same for all the Mario Party games (except 8). Not as fun as Mario Party 8, but still fun.

The biggest ratio difference of Mini-Game quality to Stage design quality in the entire series.

Collecting the furniture for each character really kept me playing when I was a kid.

Just another Mario Party game, but this one has what could be the best intro animation in any videogame ever.

Mixed bag of map design but had some absolute banger minigames. Dungeon Duos, Booksquirm, and the final Bowser battle are all so much fun.

Se me hace muy lento, la verdad

This is my childhood Mario Party and I’m very nostalgic for it. That being said, it’s defs the weakest entry on the ‘Cube.

The best Mario Party game ever made.

Played Mario Party 4 a few times over the past few weeks and was shocked at how boring/frustrating it was. I certainly didn't remember it being this bad.

- Boards are big, but uneventful.
- Minigames are wacky, but too luck-based (even for this series).
- Items are bland and minimal.

Does not hold up. Worst GameCube Mario Party.
