A very improved version of Shadow of Mordor and what was missing is the war mechanic and objectives. There are more varieties way of executions and finishers which I loved in a game, more expanded version of the nemesis system which is my most favorite from the game, and a very expanded location with different locations and cities. I actually found myself really drawn into the story. Yes, there are a lot of things canonically wrong, but I find the story is in many ways more interesting the same as a Tolkien story as LOTR fan. It can get a little repetitve as you grind as you spend a lot of hours in this game you will still enjoy the large content the game has to offer.
DLC Blade of Galadriel
- This was a nice little piece of bonus content, but there wasn't really anything new or exciting here. Eltariel's Light abilities were interesting but I still cant enjoy playing her after what she did from the main protagonist.
DLC Desolation of Mordor
- A new innovative DLC with a lot of new content with a refreshing gameplay and new locations. As you play a human with grounded combat features that makes the combat quite enjoyable and rewarding

I can't give it a higher score than the first because of the absolutely atrocious end game that it first launched with. Luckily I played it after everything had been patched out and fixed, but imagining how long that would take to grind gave me second hand exhaustion.
That being said, leading assaults on castles was incredible, and the nemesis system gave me some amazing stories. Had one dude who just wouldn't die and followed me to the ends of the earth until he was killed by a troll for good. RIP that guy.

Got this off of Xbox Gamepass during the Covid lockdown and it really had me hooked. Gameplay isn't nothing ground breaking, and can get really repetitive, but despite that I kept playing and enjoying myself. The nemesis system that makes procedurally generated bosses keeps the game fresh and interesting, and gives you a Pokémon like feeling as you catch and dominate orcs and make your army. The story though nothing amazing at first redeemed itself in the later half, and talion is still one of my favorite protagonists ever. Although his fate was also tragic, it was nice seeing him get peace at the end.
Shadow of War is yet another fun free-flow combat open-world game set in the Lord of the Rings universe/lore. I really enjoyed the first game (Shadow of Mordor) and I had once again fun playing this follow-up even though I'm not into the story and/or lore of the LOTR universe.
Personally, it's the free-flow combat system that kept me engaged in this game along with some other mechanics that are part of this series such as the nemesis system, stronghold takes, army building, etc.
This game had a rough and controversial launch and early life due to microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics that apparently have been removed or at least improved later on so I'm glad I decided to play this game many years after its release.
While this game did not have the 'wow' factor that I experienced with Shadow of Mordor, it remains a fun game for most of its duration as long as you are able to learn all the ins and outs of the free-flow combat system.
Admittedly, the gameplay can become a bit stale and repetitive since it's a longer than a normal game, and some mission quests (such as Carnan) are overall bland and poorly designed but for the most part the game is solid and has enough content to provide a good experience.
