Genuinely the most disappointing game I've ever played. It promises so many things in the trailer but so little comes to fruition.
The gameplay is probably the best aspect of this entry, and it's not even that good. It's fun for a couple hours but starts to become repetitive and mindless. Having the game alter between two protagonists is also really annoying because you have to keep switching out your equipment.
The characters do not get any development, except for Chitose. Not the party nor the main antagonists, which are also just really boring and generic. They're barely present in the story and don't have any interesting dynamics with the cast, and the plot is as good as the antagonists.
Lastly, the ending is another beast of its own. I didn't think it was possible to write an ending worse than LAD7's but here we are. To keep it as spoiler free as possible: if you were interested in this game for the satisfying conclusion it promised, you'll be as disappointed as I was because there is no conclusion.
Everything is just kind of brushed off because RGG wanted to play it safe.

I do not recommend this game. It is seriously not worth the time or money and I regret falling for the hype and buying it day 1.

The story is close to nonexistent and it's all told through dialogue with characters that are supposed to be important but aren't. I didn't care for a single one of them and their motives were very surface level. Because of that, all endings are underwhelming.
The combat is hardly any better. It's carried by press turn and a good variety of demons, which you'll hardly get to use because of the terrible level scaling. It gets worse in endgame where there is a huge jump in difficulty for some reason.
Lastly, the "open world" is uninteresting. It's very linear in comparison to other open world games, as there is hardly any meaningful exploration and there will be a marker telling you where to go. It's the same sandy area with wrecked buildings over and over with a couple side quests scattered on the map. There is no story telling through the world's design, which I guess makes sense since there is hardly any story to tell.

Game is not the worst thing ever but definitely the weakest FromSoft title.

- ADP is a stupid mechanic
- Clunky controls & movement. Dex builds are almost completely invalidated by the slow attack recovery. You'll have the same room for punishing as you would with strength, except you won't stagger and you'll deal less damage.
- Enemies are poorly placed. There are many of them and they track forever
- No iframes when opening doors, entering boss rooms, opening chests etc. This is made worse by the point listed above
And more, but these are the biggest offenders.

You can say this game is not as bad as some people make it out to be, but you cannot say this is better than any other FromSoft game. Like that is the most braindead contrarian take ever.
