Stuff I Dislike About Games I Love

The title is pretty self explanatory. Things I hate will vary throughout the list; don't just expect stuff that's high on the list to be exempt from lots of hate.

Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy
It ends
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
Not a huge fan of some of the less important cases, like DGS-3, DGS2-1, and DGS2-2.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
The camera just refuses to work sometimes. You can try moving it around but it'll usually lock on to some specific point right when you stop. It makes observing your surroundings much more annoying than it should be.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Jetstream
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Jetstream
Armstrong's fire lunge attack is so incredibly stupid. You can't beat him out of it unless he's already about to be stunned, and it will track you from anywhere on screen, including after a double jump. This means you can only avoid it by dodging perfectly. It's easy to misinput a dodge for a simple jump, which screws you over. Sometimes, Armstrong likes to delay one of the followups for no reason which will screw you over if you're not paying attention. And sometimes, the camera decides to not show Armstrong coming up from behind you until you get hit. Literally this single attack is the most annoying thing in this game.

Also, Sam can't stealth kill which makes a lot of otherwise avoidable encounters mandatory.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Blade Wolf
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Blade Wolf
Didn't really feel like a robot dog needed more backstory, and said backstory kinda ruins his character a bit. Instead of learning about what freedom is from Raiden and Sam, he learns about it before meeting them while attempting to escape Mistral's control. This weakens his arc throughout the main game because he already knew what freedom was.

His gameplay isn't too engaging, either. No freeform combos, it's just brainless mashing but it gets the job done I guess. That platforming mission is also the stupidest thing in this whole game.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
I love this series for how you don't need to grind to get by, but the challenge node absolutely requires an insane amount of grinding that I don't think I'll ever be prepared to do.
Asura's Wrath
Asura's Wrath
True ending locked behind a paywall. It also sucks to think how much better this game could've been had it been a real game instead of an anime with gameplay.
Ace Attorney Investigations 2
Ace Attorney Investigations 2
Raymond Shields loses importance after AAI2-3, which is fair because that case focused on him more, but he barely existed after that and was a pivotal character for Edgeworth's character arc.
Dead Rising
Dead Rising
The AI is obviously terrible, that's no question, but I never see anyone talk about the hidden survivors being a pain. You can completely not know they exist whilst playing through the game and they can be a brutal roadblock without a guide. Also, the camera battery needing a recharge is incredibly annoying and stupid.
Celeste

Would've liked more hidden collectibles, like the crystal hearts, because the ones that were in the game were insanely fun, but there only ended up being one per level, and once you know how to get it, it kinda takes the fun away.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Mario Galaxy 2
The game takes no time to develop it's story or atmosphere; it just throws you right in. I can barely connect to this game like I could with the first one. Also, Green Stars, while fun in the moment, are one of the laziest and most thoughtless collectibles I've seen in a video game.
Punch-Out!!
Punch-Out!!
Finishing campaign mode completely requires you to lose 3 battles, and I don't have it in me to lose those battles to get to the ending cutscene and credits.
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record
Didn't make nearly enough use of the fact that this game isn't canon. Literally anything was possible with the characters and story in this game and they just didn't do a whole lot with it. The Chuck fight is probably the best thing to come from this game, but with the final boss being a giant crab robot, I feel like more stupid non-canon stuff was in order.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations
The third case is pretty filler and almost completely unrelated to the overarching plot. Even other filler cases, like 1-3 and 6-2, tie into important character arcs despite not having much importance over all. It's at least a fun case, though; I could never stay mad at it for not trying to be entertaining.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Absolutely not balanced in the slightest. I love watching this game, but the meta is so defined by everyone at the top of the tier list that it just becomes the same thing over and over. Low tier players can and have been successful (God bless Sacktap), but a final balance patch was definitely in order to tone down some of the top tiers and to give the low tiers more sauce.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
Bayonetta
Super Mario 64
Super Mario 64
Absolutely no indication that you have to capture Mips the rabbit twice. Some hidden stars are also impossible to find on your own. I get that they're hidden for a reason, but some hints would be nice.
Super Mario Odyssey
Super Mario Odyssey
WAY too many moons to collect. While being advertised as an open world 3D Mario game, some of these kingdoms don't have a lot to do in and are just filler to me until I get to a bigger kingdom.
Dead Rising 2
Dead Rising 2
Story is just a wild goose chase until a stupid twist villain reveal at the end. Nobody in this game is as interesting as anyone in Dead Rising, making it overall less engaging. The removal of the snapshot also hurts, as the only way to get PP is to kill zombies, which I don't always wanna do.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
This is one of the worst fighting game rosters ever. I understand Capcom had their hands tied with the Marvel side of things, and I completely understand that. In fact, I think they did really well with most of the Marvel newcomers despite being forced to include a bunch of blank slate, punch and shooty characters. But the same cannot be said for the Capcom side of the roster.

Only 4 newcomers: Jedah, X, Sigma, and Monster Hunter. These characters are all interesting and well designed in their own right, but consider who they cut from the previous game vs who they kept.
-Wesker, the main antagonist of Resident Evil, got cut alongside Jill, the main protagonists of a few games, while Nemesis, the antagonist of one Resident Evil game, got to stay.
-Firebrand, a minor antagonist of Ghosts n' Goblins that literally nobody played in MVC3, got to stay.
-Phoenix Wright, a fan favorite, got cut, removing all Ace Attorney representation.
-Not sure that 3 Megaman Legends characters was necessary. If you're going to throw in 3 Megaman characters, at least experiment. Add Wily or Proto Man to represent the early games while X and Sigma represent the Legends series or something.

It really sucks how characters who are the only rep to their series, like Phoenix Wright, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, etc. get cut and then they put in 3 Megaman reps for some reason. Again, all of these characters are interesting in gameplay and are worth checking out if you like the game, but it removes a lot of personality from the game and does a disservice to lesser known Capcom franchises that deserve more recognition.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
The final area in Bowser's Castle is pretty repetitive. You go through a bunch of standard trials to test your knowledge of your core moveset, but then you have to fight all the Koopalings who have very similar moves and it just gets tedious.
Street Fighter X Tekken
Street Fighter X Tekken
The DLC characters on the PC version don't have swap costumes available. They also don't have their alternate costume either, which is an XBox exclusive for some reason. They literally made Cody look the best he ever has and then locked it behind a console.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Worst online to ever be in a game. Although not related to the game itself, I absolutely hate the Smash community. I hate how this game is pushed to be a competitive fighter when the devs have absolutely no idea how to balance the game, in terms of characters and mechanics.
Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
While many of the newer characters are interesting and received meaningful buffs, a lot of the early characters have stayed relatively the same. I don't really care if they're good or not, but it would've been great if they were given more tools to work with, not necessarily just standard buffs and nerfs.
