Started off goofy, but ended fairly strong. Central mystery was COMPLETELY undone when there's just suddenly "Do you know anything about our father?" to Tom when there was LITERALLY NO WORRY ABOUT THIS BEFORE. Like, damn, wonder who it is as we spend the next 5 hours wondering. Also, I burst out laughing when Alyson's crying over her mom's grave and goes "We were your goblins!!", like I'm sorry, but I cannot take you seriously. I'm being a little harsh, and I can't say that by the end I wasn't on board with seeing the game through, so it got me in the end.

Honestly, a little disappointed, which is really weird to say. This sort of meta-mystery would be RIGHT up my alley it feels, and while the ideas are really fun, idk why, but it just doesn't click that excitement in me. Which again seems crazy, because I'm SO for "Game is a commentary about the meaning of consciousness, tulpas, the birth of an idea", the meta-bullshit, the fact that Lila is simply the game, the thought of her, a creation made to be furthered and to live inside each of our minds. But it's like, I've seen this before. I've pursued games and movies and stuff like this to where I've seen all the tricks it pulls already, which is very much a ME issue. I think this will be a game that occasionally comes up and I go "oh yeah, I liked the first few hours, but getting some of the endings was a slog". Idk, weird that I'm saying this. I'm definitely happy that I played it, and I'm almost frustrated with myself for not liking it more. I think I may come around more on it later though

Wish it locked you in Dogtown tbh because had the same narrative problem of the base game where the pressure in the narrative isn't felt through the gameplay.
With that being said, I did a 45 hour 2nd playthrough just to flesh out my V before playing it, and had to write my first fan fiction after finishing it. Slaps

I really REALLY wanted to like this. Felt up my alley because I love chill games, I love visual novels, I love modern fantasy, and I love just getting to know characters. This just never clicked though. It felt smug and almost pretentious at times about its writing and commentary which never goes past "real world issue but with a fantasy coating". The dialogue and characters also aren't anything special, which would be fine, but it's again that smugness that just makes that feel worse. Even the gameplay of making coffee is lackluster, where it is simply trial and error of only 3 ingredients and never goes beyond it. I was just disappointed and annoyed with this.
