What to say about this? The allure of the crazy twin peaks game will always draw people in to this one, and for me it was with mixed results. You start strong with probably the most unnerving yet beautiful opening cutscene I've seen in a game, and then it sets up some really great questions, like who is Zach? Who is the old man in the wheelchair etc, etc. Then you get dozens of hours of driving around a comically large and empty map and terrible combat, only for the game to completely flip out at the end, becoming like a wrestling TV story including the body slams; then ending what started as an off beat murder mystery with a boss fight that might as well be Mario vs Bowser, just video gamey as hell, but maybe that was the point. Every criticism I have about this game could be countered with " maybe that was the point", but perhaps I just wanted something else, like maybe something more of a horror game.

2018

I played it for 40 hours and got to the "end credits" only to find out that I was only scratching the surface. The amount of contextual voice lines recorded for it is also insane. Just nothing less than an achievement.

Silent Assassin, but better. Everything is improved mechanics wise, and remade levels from the first one are a great touch for someone like me who will never go back and play that one. The story and atmosphere are the darkest in the series, and for me the best as well for the simplicity. The high point of this series when released, but it could still get better. And it did.

Inferior to the first one, although it does start great. The tower climbing section at the end really tested my patience I have to say.

It's a great epic and ambitious story. On the other hand it is an adventure game, so it's just not for me like that.

So I played this in tandem with Second Sight, just to see which game about being a psychic super soldier holds up better, and surprisingly, it's not even a contest. Just a loud, stupid action game about flinging enemies away with psi powers, this is the ultimate in psx trash. This game us just nu metal personified.

I really wanted to play this, because I found the cover art so fascinating as a child; almost looks like a horror game. It is not, and the slightly cartoonish art style undercuts whatever serious beats the story is trying to hit, but there is no denying that this is a cult classic for a reason.

This game does not fill my dark soul with light. But all jokes aside, while it is decent, the is no reason to go back and play this one when Devil May Cry 3 exists.

Perfectly captures that type of trashy exploitation movie about killing vampire nazis that you saw once late at night on cable, but as a video game.

Man this game looks good for 1999, especially the shadows. Terminal reality reached for the stars and they didn't quite get there, but the results are fascinating to experience. By the time I was finished I was wondering what nocturne could have been as a multi game, or even multi media franchise.

Take that glossy, jazzy ps1 aesthetic and inject it straight into my veins.

A true labor of love by this collective of Half Life fans. They even fixed Xen, except it goes on for too long now, so there is no pleasing people, I guess.

And what can I say other than this is the start of something special right here. As for the gold edition, I'll say this: yes it features the thieves guild, which is one of the worst levels of any game ever, but It's still worth playing for "Song of the Caverns" alone.

Everyone loves this game, because everyone remembers the first couple of levels. The jungle driving section was not good and it generally struggles by the end. Also I just don't think a spy game with all kinds of gadgets and all that should be this aggressively linear.
