There's a legitimate argument that this is the best action game ever made. A ton of depth, dynamic difficulty system that gets harder as you get better, wacky ass context sensitive actions and so many different movesets to try and enemy encounters to test them out on. It's just straight peak.

Genuinely insane how this game has been passed over by so many people when it should be the blueprint.

Not a perfect game, but a perfect sequel. This game will bounce a lot of people off, and that's very fair... But like Dragon's Dogma before it the vision here is uncompromising and so very confident in itself. It's a game that loves Dragon's Dogma and celebrates all the quirks and kinks in the gameplay by doubling down, and I loved every single second of it. A shame that the poor performance (as of writing) and the MTX discussion have poisoned the well in the discussion of one of the most passionate AAA games I've played in the last decade.

The last 10 - 15 hours of this game are pure unadulterated kino. A perfect reward for those who have waited this long and are willing to see it through to the end.

Picked up this game when it came out on a whim, and it took me around three and a half years to stop getting filtered by the mechanics - But when I did I found something truly special. The mechanics are still kinda ass but their obfuscation and how you have to make your own little schedules and keep track of stuff work wonders for immersion, and definitely strengthen the idea of how you spend your time the game goes for.

Play it if you want something poignant and unique. It'll take a bit of getting used to, but it's worth it long term.

Unmatched vibe with wack as fuck controls. It never being completed is a crime against humanity.

Incredibly unique game that deserves to be played. The combat falls a little short, but outside of that everything is stellar. It’s just a shame how much of this game is combat.

Still holds up. Incredible how the setpieces, music, va blow a lot of modern action games out of the water.

Very well written and very well thought out mechanically, just overstays its welcome pretty hard.

Nothing made before or likely after will hit the same emotional notes this game has. A beautiful game that demands your attention, because if you don't bounce off this game chances are you'll love it like nothing else.

2022

Hoooooly shit this game fucking rules. Tighten up the controls a bit and we legit have an all timer.

Legitimately the best game Nintendo made during this entire console generation. A rare kind of game where every single moment is fun, overflowing with pure creativity. Get this fucking game off the 3DS man. It is a game that deserves to be played, ideally with a better control scheme.

imo the best in the series. Weapon balance, hub quests, visual design, music, monster design - It all hit exactly how it needed to for me. There are only a few downsides. Underwater combat, this game's main gimmick, just didn't work with the 3ds' control scheme. It's a lot better emulated or on the Wii U version, but most people (Including me for the majority of my playtime) played on the 3DS version. They also decided not to include online play on the 3DS version, which as mentioned is the version most people played.

Still a great game when you get down to it though.

Worst version of the game by far, but the femc route is worth experiencing for the extra content if you enjoyed the base game.

Beowulf made my friends quit this game and added 600 hours to my playtime. I fucking kneel.

Kojimbos most experimental game of the original metal gears, and it paid off. Every strength from the original is kept and expanded upon, and it fucking rules.
