'salright in the beginning but by act 3 the game ground to a screeching halt, and after dipping my toes into it I just couldn't bring myself to care and uninstalled. Ugly to its core, the party members are about the only redeeming quality of its writing, and even then not all of them.

2 stars, I wish I could get that time back

I think my problems with this game lie in 2 key points: Upgrades felt more or less superfluous. The game design was, on an aesthetic level, pretty boring.

Momo controlled great in and out of combat. The forced combat sections in levels were a good mix up. However, I think many enemies were too squishy.

I was expecting more, but ultimately the game delivers on a fundamental level. and thats fine. 3 stars

Void Stranger expects a lot, but it is very rewarding in how it creatively expands in possibility within and beyond its many tiles. The soundtrack holds up to multiple playthroughs, and really brings out the energy and mood of its stages. The plot is sparse, but the characters(Major and Minor) are compelling. The emotional beats hit. Some fantastic set pieces. Killer vibes.

Very interesting VN. I think it's most effective in how it immerses you in Ana's perspective; you get the sense bigger things are happening in the world, but the reader can hardly begin to grasp them until they start affecting Ana directly. The narrative tension of that bigger realization against the perspective remaining on our one, sheltered girl worked really well for me!

If you're at all interested in VN's as a story telling medium, this is a must read! 4 stars

Solid art direction, novel approach to the genre, and it plays well, but I just feel like it doesn't have the crunch or the juice compared to other deckbuilders. Playing a die just cant compare to playing a card, I guess....

I played this back to back with Paradise Killer so its easy to compare them as opposite ends of a spectrum. I think Obra Dinn's strong points are its sharp focus on the task at hand, the way it reveals(and doesnt reveal) its story through still vignettes that you walk through, and its unsettling moody vibes. And it is all accomplished with a very limited visual palate.

The best seven hours I've ever spent ruminating about death; 4 stars

Killer Vibes; I loved being an "Investigation Freak", sprinting around with wild abandon to pick up every last treat. Never managed to get atop the ziggurat, so I didnt actually get them all. Loved accosting all the other outrageous freaks they shoved into the game, some more than others. I think the mystery was well constructed, having multiple avenues to tease out what happened, the competing conspiracies. I think the character/dialogue writing is probably the weakest part of the game, the way of the blood bar segments were particularly intolerable.

3 stars; perfect for a weekend getaway.

Overall great game, brings some interesing game concepts to the table,. I like that its designed to accommodate a myriad of playstyles, and the vibrant(if a little flat) characters. I like the open ended nature of the game, I just wish the devs had more resources to really play with how the game changes based on routing( ex. encountering a certain robot master before they're prematurely killed off by doing their zone first.) but theres so much to play with already that its easy to forgive.

Super Lesbian Animals indeed! I was a bit unsure at the start but once it got going I was really impressed! The rpg systems are well tuned, the spellbooks offer a lot of variety in playstyle, which I enjoyed. Its pretty well written overall, good character work, plenty of good and bad jokes. I think the Harmony stuff didn't really land for me, in particular; it really felt like going through the motions of that kind of conflict. I also found some of the world building to be a bit nonsensical but, like, whatever, soooo not the point; Overall its a pretty, lighthearted adventure with beautiful visuals, lots of fun character design, and a really killer soundtrack.

You know I made those animals girls kiss every battle, 4 stars.

its got writing that ages like milk, but its fun to play, at least.

3 stars I liked the part where he kills you

What a heroic endeavor these people undertook to resurrect my favorite card game; for me, specifically. I appreciate that they weren't afraid change it up from the beginning, while also giving classic-heads a legacy mode to relive the good ol' days. I'm looking forward to how they intend to further iterate on the originals delicious formula.

bandai namco killed this game

and Im going to get them for it

Only nostalgia poisoned fools will tell you this game is good, but I suppose it got the job done at the time.

20 years later I can still recall, with perfect clarity, the sounds the glove makes when transforming the ball... Its certainly got a vivid imagination but like its not a good game 1 star
