p5 peaks insanely hard in the first arc, its main characters become less and less interesting as they go on, has like 2 confidants (toronosuke and yusuke), dull ass dungeons, gameplay thats basically just diet nocturne, a story full of filler with a poop butt ending, relies way too hard on visual style, and also atlus is afraid of making their characters gay. also acid jazz sucks lol

Persona 5 has better confidants than any other game in the series lol. The Makoto confidant is peak MegaTen.

I have played only persona 4 and 5 and even I know that P5 is not top 3 material.

I will never open my eyes to the possibility of 3 being bad. I outright refuse no matter how right you may be.

All Persona games post 2 are great and better than most SMT games. The only SMT entries that have topped a great Persona is Nocturne.

Imagine thinking Teddie is a good character but not the P3 cast

teddies arc of self discovery and finding a reason to exist is more substantial and has more to say than like 80% of p3 yall just dont like him cuz hes a little annoying sometimes

Teddie's character arc is a cliche "who am I" story arc that does little to actually change or develop the character and reinforces the game's themes without adding anything to them

....... I just like Persona 5 because I like the game.

even if that were all that teddie's arc was about (i do think there are interesting existentialist ideas around him but i cant really put them into words cuz im an idiot), thats still more than the majority of p3s cast. akihiko and mitsurus arcs are basically just "oh man someone i know died im sad". aigis is just the "robot with emotions" cliche with little to nothing unique about it. shinji is more plot device than actual character. one of the main cast is literally just a dog. extending beyond just the main cast, what the fuck am i supposed to take away from slinks like kenji or bebe or the gourmet king or the other 8 or so ones so dull i dont even remember their name

i love p5r enough to call it top 3 but i still agree with like everything bad people have said about it lol. it's become increasingly hard for me to explain my love for it (and 3/4) over the years outside of it being super polished in presentation and the actual gameplay, because I agree the story isn't particularly great and a lot of the characters kinda exist. you cant call its music bad though wtf dude

the one thing i never really understood was people holding up 3/4 on pedestals while it's popular to shit on 5. those 3 games have a LOT in common lol. i just assume it's like back when everyone shat on p4 and its fans before p5 was a thing. i hope it will be cool to like p5 once p6 is out, but liking persona as a whole is probably ruined at this point

also have to admit, im no makoto hater, but she has one of the worst confidants in the game imo. people shit on ohya (me included) but there was a vaguely interesting backstory with a neat tie-in to the big antagonist that could've been worked on there

teddie has some interesting ideas but they're only focused on for like 10 mins at the start and end of the game. he's teddie for the entire rest of the game. i liked that character when i was 14 and i do not know why

while p4 does fall into a lot of the pitfalls that 3 and 5 i can pretty safely summarize why i like it more as just the characters being a lot better, both the main ones and the slinks. characters like rise, ai, dojima, nanako, adachi and naoki have a lot more nuance and realism to me than the vast majority of p3/5 characters. also the bosses are all really good.

and morgana existing showed me that teddie could always be much, much, MUCH worse.
