This is how you do a video game sequel. A game that truly feels like a perfect next step, a damn near flawless follow-up to 2 modern classics. Gameplay is as fun and satisfying as ever, story hits all the right notes and reaches extremely high highs. Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter both give career-defining performances. This is one of the best pieces of superhero media released in the past few years, just like the previous entries. InsomniacGames and their Spider-Man franchise continue to be the crown jewel of PlayStation Studios, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for this universe moving forward.

An impossible sequel to one of the best games ever created. I hold the first game very close to my heart, and for years have been eager to finally experience Part II. I didn't know what to expect, and ended up playing a simply unbelievable game.
While the first game tackles the theme of learning to love, Part II is all about how love can become hate, what becomes of us when we hate, and the dangerous passion for revenge.
The narrative left me speechless time and time again. From the storytelling direction that kept me on edge to the extremely ambitious take on 2 characters that ultimately desire the same thing.
The structure of the game is brilliant. Making us play as the character we grew to love from the previous title, to the sudden shift into playing from the 'villain' perspective that leads us to experience 2 sides of the same coin, playing 2 characters that play the opposite roles in each other's views. It's a massive gray zone that I find to be fascinating.
The gameplay is improved from Part I on every single front. Exploration and combat are so much deeper, everything is as refined as possible and some of the set pieces, big story encounters and boss fights are as thrilling and intense as they should be.
All the new characters are fantastic, giving you new sides of this tragic world that really flesh out the different corners of humanity in such a broken reality.
While not being the game I expected it to be, Part II blew me away with every single story beat and extended gameplay section. I could not believe what this game kept throwing at me. My jaw hit the floor countless times and was I left heartbroken by the end. I hope it won't be too long until we get to see where Ellie and Abby's journeys will continue from here.
